OPSC Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Recruitment - Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the OPSC Veterinary Recruitment 2026 are detailed below.

Age:

• Candidates aged between 21 and 47 years old on January 1, 2026, are eligible.

Educational Qualification:

• Candidates with a bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or an equivalent degree from a recognised university in India or abroad are eligible to apply.

• Candidates with equivalent qualifications from a recognised foreign university should have conversion certificates recognised by the Veterinary Council of India.

• Candidates applying for this post should possess a valid registration certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21).

Nationality:

• Only Indians are eligible to apply.

It is advised that candidates read all instructions available in the OPSC portal and follow them while filling out the online application form. The steps that candidates should follow to apply for the OPSC VAS Recruitment 2026 are detailed below.

• Visit the concerned OPSC website: opsc.gov.in.

• Candidates can fill out the application form seamlessly, as the online application form is automated and system-driven.

• Candidates are advised to fill out the online application form as requested.

• Further, candidates are advised to fill out the application form with the correct information and also check the details after submission carefully.

• If candidates want to change the information in the online form, they are required to cancel their application first, and then they need to complete the online application form by the last date of registration.

• After filling out the online application form with the accurate information, candidates must upload their latest passport-size photograph that is scanned as requested.

• Also, candidates must upload their scanned signature and left-hand thumb impression on the application form as requested.

• For future use, candidates should maintain the four copies of passport-size photographs submitted in the application form.

• Candidates are now advised to pay the examination fee of 700 rupees.

• Submit the online registration form.

• Applicants will be allocated the “Permanent Public Service Account Number” after the successful submission of the online registration form for the OPSC VAS examination 2026.

• Now, candidates are requested to take the printout of the final submitted registration form and online application form and make their signature under the declaration for submission to OPSC along with the documents specified.

• To avoid the last-minute rush, candidates are advised to submit the online submission form in advance.

• Before the examination date, OPSC will upload the certificate of admission to the written examination on the official OPSC website for the eligible candidates. This admission certification will also be published on the Commission website and in newspapers.

• As candidates are required to submit the admission certificate on the exam date at the examination centre for admission to the written examination, candidates are advised to download it.

Odisha Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Based on the performance in the written examination, candidates are selected for the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon/Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeon. The written exam consists of two objective-type papers.

• Candidates are required to take the two papers, Paper I and Paper II. Each paper consists of 200 questions, carrying 400 marks each.

• Based on the marks secured in the written examination, the commission will prepare the merit list of candidates and call them for document verification.
