i am a student from biology stream i wish to become an ias which degree can i prefer
For becoming an IAS officer there is no restriction of degree choice , you can choose any degree of your own choice but remember one thing that is all the degrees you choose must be a graduation degree eg - BA , BSc , BTech , MBBS etc even students having post graduation degree can appear in UPSC exam . So any degree is preferable but must be atleast graduation because that is a necessary condition for eligibility .
But it is a general perception of taking BA in social sciences as questions are asked majorly from these subjects but you can have any degree of your own choice and then opt for exam . But for exam you must have knowledge about Indian History , Political Science , Indian Geography , General Studies and Current affairs , so apart from degree programs of your own choice you can join online coachings or coachings near by your college or even prepare on your own through different books , websites and YouTube etc.
Here is links which tells you about Eligibility criteria and exam pattern based on which you can make your decision :-
Hope this will help .
Should a 11th class student start preparing for UPSC ( IAS ) from 11th class ownwards itself or from college ownwards ?
Hi Raghav ! UPSC has got a vast syllabus ,but basics are always important . I would advise you to study sincerely whatever is there in course . But don't sweat it. Just cover the syllabus in your course properly.
During the final year of graduation , you can start preparing for the exam in a structured manner. Now if your basics are strong , it would prove to be the brownie point for you , as you would only have to brush them up , and focus on learning the new content more.
Hope my answer would clear your doubt.
what can I do after d pharma to be An IAS office
With D pharma which is a diploma you are not eligible for UPSC or IAS examination as to be eligible for UPSC one needs to be graduate so the first thing you need to do to become an IAS officer is do graduation in any subject or discipline based on your interest and then you need to appear in one of the toughest examination called UPSC, and it has 3 stages which are listed below :-
The first stage of the exam is Preliminary examination (objective )
The second stage, Mains (written).
If you manage to clear both prelims and mains then you are to go through interview/personality test .
And if you managed to clear all the three rounds mentioned above, then congratulations you may become an ias officer
