To apply in ssc stenographer post candidates must pass Class 12th or equivalent from a recognized board or institution with shorthand.

Certificate of typing is not required but yes, you must know the typing at least of word 55–60 wpm only for SSC Stenographer skill test, aspirants have to type a 10-minute dictation in both English and Hindi.
