About SBI Clerk 2019

SBI Clerk recruitment exam is conducted by State Bank of India for the appointment of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in clerical cadre. The SBI Clerk exam is a computer-based test conducted in two phases – Preliminary and Mains followed by a test of the local language. According to eligibility criteria, candidates who are between 20 to 28 years of age and completed their graduation can appear for the SBI Clerk exam. However, reserved candidates will be given age relaxation as per their category. Candidates are selected for Junior Associate post on the basis of marks secured in the mains exam only. To qualify each stage of examination – prelims and mains candidates have to secure subject wise and category wise cutoff marks as per their category. Candidates who will score higher in the SBI Clerk mains exam will be given a better rank in the merit list. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained in the mains exam.

SBI prescribes the eligibility criteria for clerk recruitment along with the notification. Candidates have to fulfill the eligibility requirements set by the conducting body to appear for the exam. Below are the details regarding the age limit, nationality, educational qualification, age relaxation for reserved candidates.

SBI Clerk Eligibility Criteria -  Age Limit – To apply for SBI Clerk, candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age.

Registration for SBI Clerk is done in online mode. Candidates have to fill and submit the application form of SBI Clerk within prescribed dates. To apply for SBI Clerk exam, candidates have to fulfill the eligibility requirements set by State Bank of India. While filling the application form candidates have to enter valid email ID, personal, contact and educational details. SBI Clerk 2019 Exam Pattern

SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam

  • The examination mode of SBI Clerk prelims exam is online.
  • The question will be either in English language or Hindi, except for the test of General English
  • The online test will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There will be five options given on the screen, candidates have to answer anyone.
  • Subjects of the SBI Clerk prelims exam – English language, Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability 
  • There will be a total of 100 questions carrying 1 mark each. Out of which the English language will have 30 questions while Numerical ability and Reasoning ability will have 35 questions each.
  • Each correct answer will be given 1 mark. For every incorrect response, 0.25 mark will be deducted.
  • Candidates have to attempt questions within 1 hour.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam

  • SBI Clerk mains exam will be conducted in online mode
  • The language of the test will be either in Hindi or English, except for the test of General English
  • Candidates will be given 190 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Subjects of the SBI Clerk mains exam – General English, General/Finance Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude,  Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude
  • General English will carry 40 questions while General/Finance Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude,  Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude carries 50 marks.
  • The total marks for the exam are 200
  • There will negative marking of 1/4th marks.

State Bank of India releases the admit card of SBI Clerk for prelims and mains separately. Candidates can check their SBI Clerk admit card by entering registration number and password/date of birth in the login window. Before downloading, candidates must check that all details mentioned on the admit card. In case, any discrepancies, candidates must immediately contact the officials for necessary rectification. Only those candidates who have registered successfully can download SBI Clerk admit card. The SBI Clerk admit card carries exam centre address, exam date and time, name and roll number of the candidate, exam day instructions etc. No hard copy of the SBI Clerk admit card for prelims and mains examination will be sent through the post.

SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam

The admit card of SBI Clerk prelims examination will be released in online mode. Candidates who successfully register for SBI Clerk exam will be issued the prelims admit card in online mode. Admit card of SBI Clerk prelims exam is an important document, which must be carried to the examination hall along with required identity proof documents. 

SBI Clerk Mains Exam

The admit card of SBI Clerk Mains is released in online mode. Candidates who qualify in the preliminary stage of SBI Clerk will be issued the mains admit card. Along with the SBI Clerk admit card candidates must also carry one prescribed identity proof to the examination hall.

SBI Clerk result is declared in two phases – Prelims and Mains. The result for SBI Clerk is available in online mode. SBI announces first the result of preliminary examination followed by mains exam. Candidates must note that marks scored in prelims exam will not be considered for final selection. Only the marks obtained in mains exam will be considered for final merit list and provisional allotment of candidates. Candidates who qualify for selection and produce class 10 and 12 marks sheet/certificate that they studied the specified opted local language will not be subjected to any language test. While who are unable to produce the certificate that they have studied the opted local language in class 10 and 12 have to appear for a language test. Candidates who are not found to be proficient in specified opted local language would be disqualified from the selection process. 

SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam

The State Bank of India will declare the SBI Clerk result for preliminary in online mode. The result of SBI Clerk prelims will be available in pdf format. Candidates can download their scorecard after two to three days of the result declaration.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam

The result of SBI Clerk will be declared in online mode. On the basis of SBI Clerk mains exam, candidates will be shortlisted for provisional allotment. Only those candidates who will score equal to or more than the category-wise and state-wise cutoff will be selected for language test and provisional allotment. 

Only those candidates are declared qualified who secure equal to or more than the category-wise SBI Clerk cut off marks in the written exam. The SBI Clerk cutoff score decided by the authority based on the number of vacancies, the difficulty level of the exam and candidates appearing for the respective posts.

SBI Clerk 2019 Selection Process

SBI Clerk section process includes mainly three stages:

SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam – SBI Clerk prelims exam is conducted for those candidates who successfully register for the exam. Candidates have to download SBI Clerk admit card to appear in the examination. Candidates must note that marks obtained in the prelims exam are not added while preparation of the final merit list. Approximately 10 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the SBI Clerk Mains exam.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam – The mains examination is conducted only for those candidates who qualify the prelims examination. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks as prescribed by the exam conducting authority to get shortlisted for final merit list. Candidates qualified in the mains exam are placed in the merit list as per their state and category.

Local Language Test –  It is conducted for only for those candidates who have not studied the opted local language in class 10 and 12.  However, candidates who have studied the opted local language in class 10 and 12 are exempted from the language test. Candidates who are not found to be proficient in specified opted local language are disqualified from the selection process. 

Final SBI Clerk selection process of the candidates is based on fulfilling the eligibility requirement and qualifying the mains and language test.

  • Original SBI Clerk score card along with two xerox copies
  • Marksheet/certificate of class 10 and 12 examination
  • Certificate regarding degree/post-graduate/other examinations passed
  • Passport size photographs and one should attached to interview call letter
  • Character certificate
  • SC/ST/OBC categories must bring the caste/community certificate issued by the competent authority
  • Medical certificate for physically challenged candidates
  • Discharge certificate in applied under ex-servicemen
  • Aadhaar card/Passport/Pan card/Voter ID/Driving license /any other photo id card issued by the statutory authorities with affixed photograph
