RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2020 - Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) releases the RRB NTPC 2020 exam pattern in its detailed official notification. The exam pattern of RRB NTPC 2020 has prescribed two stages Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Skill Test. Knowing the RRB NTPC exam pattern 2020 helps the candidates become aware of the expected question paper - various sections, number of questions, marking scheme etc. This will help them in attempting the question paper. This section-wise syllabus distribution is only indicative and there may be some variations in the actual question papers.
One mark is allotted for every correct response.
There will be a negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.
The first stage CBT is a screening test. The level of questions for the CBT is equivalent to the educational standards specified for the posts. The marks will be normalized and this normalized score will be used for shortlisting the candidates for Second Stage CBT.
The Stage 2 CBT will be different for each of the 7th CPC Level i.e. Level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will have separate Stage 2 CBT with graded difficulty level. However, all posts within the same level of 7th CPC will have the same Stage 2 CBT. The candidates may be eligible for more than one level of 7th CPC posts as per their educational qualifications. In such cases, they have to give the common Stage 1 CBT and the respective Stage 2 CBT for each level of 7th CPC. The candidates are shortlisted for the Stage 2 CBT based on:
The normalized marks obtained by them in Stage 1 CBT
Their preference for various posts as per the educational qualification of the candidate i.e. 10+2 or Graduate
Total number of candidates to be shortlisted = 20 times the vacancies of posts
The number of candidates shortlisted will depend on their category, merit and choice of posts. The Railways can increase/decrease this limit as per their requirements.

The RRB NTPC 2020 exam pattern has prescribed CBAT only for those candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master.
Qualifying marks: The candidates need to obtain a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify the Stage 3.
Total number of candidates shortlisted for CBAT = 8 times the number of vacancies*
The CBAT will have questions and answer options in English and Hindi medium only.
There will be no negative marking in CBAT.
The SM/TA merit list will be prepared for those aspirants who qualify in the CBAT and 70% weightage will be given for the marks obtained in the Stage 2 CBT and 30% weightage for the marks secured in CBAT.

Typing Skill Test (TST) is of qualifying nature. The marks are not added for making merit list. Typing test is conducted for following posts:

Number of candidates shortlisted for Typing Skill Test = 8 times the number of vacancies
Details of Typing test:
The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) for English or 25 WPM for Hindi on Personal Computer only.
No use of editing tools and spell check facility is allowed.
Note: Exemption in Typing Skill Test for aspirants who are permanently disabled due to Cerebral Palsy, Blindness/Low Vision, & Loco Motor Disability with not less than 40% permanent disability. For such candidates, the merit will be drawn only based on performance in Stage 2 CBT.
The candidates who qualify Stage 2 CBT and CBAT/TST (as applicable) are called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.
The number of candidates called for DV will be equal to the number of vacancies. In addition, 50% more candidates will also be invited for document verification to cover up any shortfall if the recommended candidates cannot join for any reason. In case two or more candidates obtain the same marks, to break the tie, older people are placed at higher merit. In case age is also the same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name shall be taken into account. Selected candidates are required to undergo Medical Fitness Test and appointment of aspirants is finalized after final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. Then the RRBs will recommend the names of the selected candidates and appointments will be offered by the respective Railway Administrations.
Both Stage 1 CBT and Stage 2 CBT have the same sections. However, it is expected that the difficulty level will be relatively higher in CBT Stage 2. The syllabus of RRB NTPC 2020 for below given sections will include:

NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET), is the national level entrance exam conducted every year by one of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for taking admissions on merit basis to Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme.
