RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2019: Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the RRB NTPC 2019 exam pattern in its official notification on Feberuary 28, 2019. The exam pattern of RRB NTPC 2019 varies for the stage wise recruitment process. RRB NTPC exam pattern 2019 of 1st stage is Computer Based Test (CBT) which includes an aptitude test of 90 minutes duration for 100 questions from General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and Mathematics section. To make 2nd stage of RRB NTPC more competitive and difficult authority has increased 5 questions each in Mathematics and Reasoning sections while 10 questions for General Awareness section. Hence RRB NTPC exam pattern 2019 for 2nd stage comprises 120 questions in totality. 1/3rd Negative marking is also applicable in both 1st stage and 2nd stage RRB NTPC exam.

Those candidates who qualify in 2nd stage CBT of RRB NTPC and opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master need to appear for 3rd stage, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) exam. RRB NTPC stage 2 exam includes Mathematics , Reasoning and General Awareness section also but the number of questions is the exam are more than stage 1. 35 questions comes from the first two sections while the last section comprises 50 questions.

Negative Marking in RRB NTPC Exam

Candidates who are preparing for NTPC exam and learning nuances regarding RRB NTPC exam pattern must know that negative marking is applicable in both first and second stage CBT exam. For each wrong question answered one third negative marks will be deducted.

Marking Scheme of RRB NTPC

Marking Scheme for RRB NTPC exam pattern 2019 is difficult in comparison to other one day exam. Candidates will be awarded 1 mark to each question they will answer while for each wrong answer ⅓ mark will be deducted and no marks will be awarded or deducted for un-attempted questions.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2019 of Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

Candidates who are preparing for the third stage of exam can check RRB NTPC exam pattern of CBAT stage in below mentioned table. It must be noted that this stage of RRB NTPC exam pattern 2019 is for Assistant Station Master & Traffic Assistant only.

  • Qualifying marks: Candidates need to obtain a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify as per RRB NTPC 2019 exam pattern. (T-score is described in below given table)

  • As per the exam pattern of RRB NTPC 2019, candidates have to qualify in each test battery of CBAT exam
  • To secure minimum score is applicable for all candidates irrespective of their category hence no relaxation in minimum T- Score is permissible.

  • CBAT test will have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi language.

  • There will be no negative marking in CBAT Test as per RRB NTPC exam pattern 2019.

  • Final Merit list will be drawn from amongst the candidates who will qualify CBAT test

  • 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT will be taken into account in making of merit list.

T- Score in RRB NTPC Stage III Exam

  • T-score is the normalized score statistically formulated for application all over. The formula for computing the T-score is as under: asm img2

RRB NTPC 2019 Exam Pattern Typing Skill Test

Aspirants who will appear in RRB NTPC exam 2019 should check the pattern of third stage typing skill test which will help them to perform better in the exam.


  • Typing Skill Test RRB NTPC exam pattern is of qualifying nature only.

  • Candidates have to type 30 WPM in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Computer only with disabling editing tools and spell check facility.

  • Candidates appearing for Typing RRB NTPC Skill Test in hindi should practise Kruti Dev & Mangal font.

  • Duration of RRB NTPC exam pattern 2019 will be of 10 minutes only.

  • 5% mistakes of the total words typed in RRB NTPC typing skill test will be ignored

  • Thereafter for every full or half mistake, corresponding words will be deducted from the total words typed for arriving at the final speed.
