UPTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The conduction board has determined the UPTET eligibility criteria 2026 for primary and upper primary teachers in their official notification. Only candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements will be able to fill out the UPTET application form 2026. So, aspirants are advised to check the UPTET eligibility requirements before starting to fill out the registration form. The eligibility criteria for UPTET 2026 include the age limit and educational qualifications.

Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age. Age relaxation is provided for the candidates in the reserved category.

UPTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria for Primary Teachers

Applicants must have any of the following UPTET educational qualifications to apply for the primary teacher posts.

• A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised university and 2 years Diploma (D.Ed) from N.C.T.E./Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

• A bachelor’s degree & 2 years BTC., C.T. (Nursery)/ Nursery Teacher Training (NTT)

• A bachelor’s degree & qualification in Special BTC Training

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years & BCT Urdu special training in Uttar Pradesh state.

• Bachelor’s degree and Diploma in Teaching from Aligarh Muslim University (For Urdu Teacher) or Moallim-E-Urdu Degree before 11-08-1997

UPTET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for Upper Primary Teachers

For Upper Primary Teacher level of the UPTET 2026, the candidate must have any of the following educational criteria.

• A graduation degree with B.T.C from a university recognized by UGC and NCTE.

• A bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed/ B.Ed (special education from the rehabilitation council of India).

• 10+2 with at least 50% marks and any of the following four years' degree courses i.e. B.A.B.Ed. Or B.Sc.Ed. Or B.El.Ed.

• A graduation degree in any field with at least 45% marks along with B.Ed.

Prerequisites to Filling the UPTET Application Form 2026

Candidates are advised to keep all the important documents ready before filling the UPTET 2026 application form to avoid any hassle. Candidates can check the list of things or documents that need to be ready.

• Active mobile number

• Valid email ID

• Graduation and Post Graduation mark sheet

• 10th and 12th mark sheets

• A recent photograph of the applicant (It should be less than 20 KB in JPEG format)

• Photo ID proof including Aadhar, Pan Card, Driving License, Passport, Voter ID, etc.

How to Do OTR (One-Time Registration)

Step 1: Accessing the Exam Portal

Candidates who are registering for the first time on the UPESSC portal are required to do the OTR before filling out the UPTET application form 2026. They can check the steps below to know about the OTR process.

Step 1: Visit the official website at uptet.upessc.org/otr/

Step 2: The portal provides two options

New Candidate – This is for the applicants registering for the first time.

Authenticated Login – For applicants who have already registered and want to continue their application.

Step 3: Now, new candidates need to click on " Initiate UPESSC ID" under the new candidate section to start the UPTET registration process 2026.

Step 2: Registration Details

Aspirants can follow the below-mentioned step-by-step procedure to register their details in the UPTET 2026 registration form.

• Visit the UPTET official website - uptet.upessc.org.

• Click on the UPTET 2026 authenticated login available on the homepage.

• Enter the personal details in the online UPTET registration form 2026 twice and confirm.

• Candidates must select a valid Identity proof for verification.

• Submit their Aadhar Card/Driving Licence or PAN card.

Step 3: Identity & Contact Information

Aadhaar Verification – Candidates who selected the Aadhaar card option must enter their 12-digit number and submit the OTP received to their registered mobile number.

Live Photo Identity Verification – Using the current device camera option, candidates have to take their live photo or take a selfie through the generated "QR" code received on their mobile phone.

Mobile & Email Verification – Applicants have to verify their registered mobile number and email ID through OTP.

Step 4: Create Login Password

• After the successful verification, candidates must create a secure password.
• Then, the Next UPTET 2026 application form window opens.

Step 5: Personal Details

• Candidates need to enter all their Personal Details, Address Details, Academic Qualifications, Twin Details, and Upload Documents.
• Click on "Save and next step" .

Step 6: Category Selection

• Candidates are now required to choose their Reservation Category from the dropdown: Unreserved (General), OBC, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
• Move to next step

Step 7: Address Details

• Candidates need to enter their permanent address or correspondence address, including state, district, pincode, etc.
• Click on "Save address and next"

Step 8: Educational Qualifications

• Candidates must enter all their educational qualifications from the 10th class onwards.
• Click on "Proceed Next"

Step 9: Uploading Documents

Upload the recent scanned photograph and signature in a specified format.

• Submit a valid identity proof (Voter ID, PAN Card, Driving License, Passport, Aadhaar Card, or Bank Passbook with Photo) and all academic mark sheets in PDF format.

Step 10: Hand written Declaration

• If candidates want to edit or make any corrections in the UPTET registration form 2026, they can do so and submit it in the prescribed format.

Step 12: OTR Completion

• Now click on " Complete OTR Profile" to finish the one-time registration process.

Step 13: Apply for Exam

• Select the " Exams" tab after the successful completion of OTR
• Click "Apply now" to start UPTET 2026 application process.

Step 14: Exam Preferences

Candidates need to select any one of the options provided below:

• Paper I: Primary (Class 1-5),
• Paper-II: Upper Primary (Class 6-8)
• Both Paper-I & Paper-II.
• Fill out the essential qualifications of the selected paper.
• Select your Second Language (First Language: Hindi is mandatory).
• Click on "Save and Next"

Step 15: After completion of the UPTET 2026 application process, download and take the printout of the confirmation page for further reference

Step 16: Pay the UPTET Application Fee

After the UPTET Registration, candidates should pay the required application fees. Applicants can pay the UPTET application fees 2026 in online mode via debit or credit card. The UPTET registration fee for all the category candidates has been given in the below table.
