IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018 IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018 – IBPS will possibly release the eligibilty criteria of IBPS PO in the month of July. IBPS PO eligibility criteria deteremine whether any candidate is eligible to apply for IBPS PO 2018 or not. IBPS PO eligibility criteria 2018 include eligibility related to nationality, age, educational qualifications, etc. Aspiring candidates are adviced to check the eligibility criteria of IBPS PO carefully before applying. In the IBPS PO eligibility criteria related to age, special category and reserved category candidates will get some relaxation in the upper age limit. Candidates need to have a graduation degree in any discipline recognised by the Government of India as per IBPS PO eligibility criteria 2018. IBPS PO 2018 prelims exam will be conducted on October 13, 14, 20 and 21 while IBPS PO 2018 mains exam will be conducted on November 18, 2018. IBPS PO common written examination is for the recruitment of candidates as probationary officers and management trainees in participating organisations.


IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018 related to Nationality

Based on the citizenship of the candidate, following are eligible to apply for IBPS PO 2018

  1. A citizen of India

  2. A subject of Nepal

  3. A subject of Bhutan

  4. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before January 1 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement.

  5. A person of Indian Origin (PIO) migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India. Given that categories 2, 3, 4 and 5 provide a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India in their favour to fulfill the IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018.

 IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018 related to Educational Qualification


The candidate must have a graduation degree such as B.A., B,Tech., or any other Bachelors Degree from a university recognised by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification also recognised by the Government of India as per the eligibility criteria of IBPS PO 2018. The candidate must have a valid marksheet/ degree certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day of registration and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registering online.

The candidate must be computer literate as the mode of examination for IBPS PO 2018 is online. The candidate must also have profeciency, both verbal and written in the language of the state or the union teritory to be eligible for IBPS PO 2018.


IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018 related to Age (as on August 1, 2018)


A general category candidate must be 20-30 years of age as per the eligibility criteria of IBPS PO 2018. There's a relaxation on the upper limit of age for special and reserved categories.

Ex-servicemen, Commissioned officers including Emergency Commissioned officers (ECOs)/ Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) who have rendered atleast 5 years military service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from the last date of receipt of application) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or physical disability attributable to military service or invalidment

Widows/divorced women

9 years

People with J&K domiciles dated from 1980 to 1989

5 years

People affected by 1984 riots

5 years

Retrenched from service (only for the state of Madhya Pradesh)

Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit necessary certificates in original along with photocopies at the time of interview and/or at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS or participating organisations.


Important point about eligibility of ex-servicemen

In case of an ex-serviceman who has once joined in a Government job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an ex-serviceman for his re-employment, his ex-serviceman status for the purpose of re-employment (for this exam) in Government ceases.


IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2018 for candidates with Benchmark Disabilities


Candidates appearing for IBPS PO 2018 with benchmark disabilities are eligible to appear for the exam if they are one of the following

  • blind and candidates with low vision

  • deaf and hard of hearing candidates

  • candidates with locomotor disabilities including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy

  • intellectually disable victims like with autism, specific learning disabilities and mental illnesses.

  • Multiple disabilities like deaf-blindness for posts identified for each disability.

Guidelines for Candidates with Benchmark Disabilities and those using a Scribe


Candidates using a scribe to appear for IBPS PO exam will have to follow some rules and regulations both while applying and writing the exam.

Guidelines, Rules and regulations given below will have to be followed by candidates using a scribe.

  • Candidates will have to arrange their own scribe at their own expense.

  • Both the candidate and the scribe are supposed to submit an undertaking stating that the scribe being used is eligible in all ways for being a scribe. The applicant will be disqualified if the knowledge is hidden or distorted that the scribe is not eligible in any way possible.

  • The scribe himself must not be a candidate.

  • Candidates using a scribe will be eligible for a compensatory 20 minutes time every hour.

  • The candidate must bring the scribe declaration issued by IBPS to the exam centre. 

Guidelines for candidates with locomotor disabilities and cerebral palsy.

  • The compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour or otherwise advised will be allowed to candidates with cerebral palsy and locomotor disabilities when the effect is to an extent of slowing the performance of function. 

Guidelines for candidates with visual impairment.

  • Visually impaired candidates with vision loss not less than 40% can request to view the contents of the examination in magnified fonts. Such candidates will be eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour.

  • The facility of magnified content will not be available for blind candidates using a scribe.
