Difference between TET and CTET: Definition

To know the further differences between TET and CTET, it is important to understand both the examination.

CTET: It is a National level teachers eligibility test conducted by the Central board of Secondary Education. This exam is conducted twice a year by the conducting authority. Candidates who are aspiring teachers can apply to this examination for recruitment in government schools which are affiliated on the central level such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalaya and more.

TET: This is also teachers eligibility tests conducted on the state level by the different state governments. Candidates who qualified this examination can be recruited as teachers in different state government schools. However, they are not eligible for the central level government school such as KVS or NVS.

Difference Between TET and CTET: Examination Frequency

The conducting frequency of CTET in comparison with other TET examinations is a major difference between TET and CTET. The conducting authority of CTET conducts this examination twice a year. However, the different state TETs are conducted on the basis of vacancies available in the government schools. There are some state TET examinations which are conducted twice a year whereas some are conducted annually. Candidates must track the exam dates of CTET and other TET examinations so that they will not miss any important events of these examinations. The conducting authority of CTET provides the facility for the students to choose any language. Students get freedom to appear in the examination with their comfortable language. However, the medium of paper will be either Hindi or English.

As per the official notification of CTET, the application fee for the general category students is Rs. 700 and the candidates from the reserved candidates will get relaxation in application fees. The application fees for state TETs is as per the parameters set by different state governments. However, the average application fees for general category students is Rs 400-500 and relaxation will be provided for the reserved category students.

Differences between TET and CTET: Job Opportunities

The CTET qualified students will get the job opportunities in the government schools which are affiliated at the Central level. The top central government schools are Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya.

The TET qualified students will get job opportunities in the state government schools. The candidates who shortlisted in state TETs are not eligible for the job opportunities in centrally run government schools.
