The preliminary exam of West Bengal Police is conducted for 100 marks. Questions in the preliminary exam are asked from General Awareness and General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics and Reasoning. West Bengal Police Recruitment Board decide qualifying marks for the preliminary examination. Marks obtained by candidates in the preliminary written test will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.

1⁄4th of the allotted marks for a particular question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

All candidates who qualify in the PMT and PET will be selected for final written exam. West Bengal Police result for final written exam will be calculated out of 85 marks after deducting penalty for wrong answers.

Total marks of the exam are 85.
