HPSC HCS Syllabus 2020 - HPSC releases the HPSC HCS 2020 syllabus in its official brochure @hpsc.gov.in. The syllabus of HPSC HCS 2020 contains all the important sections, topics and sub-topics on which the question paper will be based. Candidates who are planning to appear for the HPSC HCS exam must go through the detailed syllabus to prepare for the exam. HPSC HCS Syllabus 2020 - Stages of Exam

The HPSC HCS 2020 exam is conducted in 3 stages -

• Preliminary Test

• Mains Exam

• Personality Test/Viva Voce

HPSC HCS Preliminary Syllabus 2020

Paper 1 of the preliminary exam is of General Studies and will have questions based on the following topics:

• Haryana– Social, Economy and people. economic and cultural institutions and language of Haryana.

• General Science.

• Current events of national and international importance.

• History of India and Indian National Movement.

• Indian and World Geography.

• Indian Culture, Indian Polity and Indian Economy.

• General Mental Ability

As per the HPSC HCS syllabus 2020, Paper 2 will have questions from the following sections:

• Comprehension

• Interpersonal skills including communication skills

• Logical reasoning and analytical ability

• Decision making and problem-solving skills

• General mental ability

• Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, the order of magnitude, etc. – Class X level), Data interpretation

• (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level)

HPSC HCS Mains Syllabus 2020

The mains exam syllabus of HPSC HCS 2020 is a vast one so there will be 5 papers in the mains exam. 3 will be compulsory while 2 will be optional subjects. The detailed HPSC HCS 2020 syllabus for all the papers of mains exam is mentioned below:

Paper 1: English and English Essay

English -

• Precise Writing

• Comprehension of given passages

• Essay

• Usage and Vocabulary.

• General Grammar / Composition

• Essay on any specific given topic

Paper 2: Hindi and Hindi Essay (in Devnagri Script)

• Translation (English to Hindi)

• Letter / precise writing

• Explanation of Hindi passage (prose and poetry) in the same language.

• Composition (idioms, corrections etc.)

• Essay on a specific topic. The choice of subjects will be given.

Paper 3: General Studies

Part A:

• History of Modern India and Indian Culture

• Geography of India

• Indian Polity

• Current National issues and topics of social relevance

Part B:

• India and the World

• Foreign Affairs,. External Security, Nuclear Policy, Indian abroad

• Indian Economy

• International Affairs & Institutions.

• Field of science and technology, communications and space.

• Statistical analysis, graphs and diagrams.

Paper 4 and 5 will be the optional subjects. The list is mentioned below.

HPSC HCS Exam Pattern 2020

Apart from the HPSC HCS 2020 syllabus, candidates must also go through the exam pattern. According to the exam pattern of HPSC HCS 2020, the preliminary exam is for screening purposes only. The preliminary is the first stage of the exam and consists of 200 marks. There are 2 objective type/multiple-choice papers in the preliminary exam. Paper 1 is of General Studies of 100 marks while Paper 2 is the Civil Services Aptitude Test of 100 marks as well. While the mains exam will have 5 papers of 500 marks out of which 3 subjects will be English, Hindi and General Studies while 2 subjects will be optional to be chosen from the list mentioned below.
