The National Testing Agency has set a schedule to conduct the UGC NET exam 2026 from June 22 to 30, 2026.     UGC NET Application Form 2026 - Eligibility Criteria

    The National Testing Agency has released the UGC NET 2026 application form for the June session on April 29, 2026, on the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can access the UGC NET application form until May 20, 2026, in online mode.

    NTA determines the UGC NET 2026 eligibility criteria in their official notification. Only candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility can fill the UGC NET application form.     Applicants securing at least 55% marks (50% marks for the reserved category) in their Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognised university in Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc. are eligible to fill the UGC NET application form 2026.

    There are some categories that are exempted from UGC NET 2026, such as the following:

    • NET/SET/SLAT qualified candidates.

    • Candidates who appeared in UGC NET before 1990

    • Applicants who cleared the State Eligibility Tests (SETs)

    For the UGC NET examination, only a Central OBC-NCL certificate is considered valid. Submitting a State OBC certificate may create complications during document verification and could lead to your candidature being treated under the General (Unreserved) category. You can immediately obtain a valid Central OBC-NCL certificate from the concerned Tehsil

    If you filled the UGC NET form under EWS but you don’t have a valid EWS certificate, then forget using the EWS category. They won’t accept it. You’ll automatically be treated as General category during document verification.
