  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers.

  • Marks of candidates will be calculated based on the number of correct answers.

Qualifying marks for UGC NET

To qualify for both JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor only, general category candidates have to secure 40 % in both the papers while it is 35 % for SC, ST, OBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer, PwD and Transgender).

Procedure of declaration of UGC NET

  • The number of candidates to be declared qualified will be equal to 6 % of the those who appeared in both the papers.

  • Allocation of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professorship to different categories will be done as per reservation policy of Government of India.

  • Candidates are also required to secure the qualifying marks prescribed by the examination authority as per their category.

  • The number of candidates to be declared qualified in any subject eg ‘Economics’ for a particular category for Assistant Professor is derived through the following method.

Formula -

Number of candidates belonging to SC category who have appeared for Economics and secured 35% in both the papers x Total slots (JRF and Assistant Professor) derived for SC category ÷ Total number of candidates belonging to SC category of all the subjects who have secured 35% in both the papers

The aggregate percentage of two papers as per the number of slots (JRF and Assistant Professor) will determine the cutoff for Assistant Professor in Economics for SC category. Similarly, the subject-wise UGC NET cutoff for all categories will be calculated.

  • All candidates who have applied both for JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor, out of total number of qualified candidates derived as per the above-mentioned step will be considered for JRF.

  • JRF is allotted to different categories as per the availability of slots and reservation policy of Government of India. Allocation of JRF as per subjects and category is done through the following method.

Formula

Number of candidates to be declared qualified for JRF & Eligibility for Assistant Professor in Economics for ST = Number of candidates belonging to ST category who have opted for JRF and have qualified for Assistant Professor both in Economics x Total JRF slots available for ST category ÷ Total number of candidates belonging to ST category in subjects who have opted for JRF and have qualified for Assistant Professor

The aggregate percentage of two papers as per the number of JRF slots will determine the Cutoff for JRF in Economics for ST category. A similar process will be followed for all subjects and categories.
