Subin, NTA mentions few things in its Information Bulletin. It goes on to say
"NTA will not change any information entered by the candidates on its own after completion of application process under any circumstances. It is upto the Candidate to enter the correct information. Once the correction window has been closed, NTA does not guarantee that any request for change in information will be entertained."
Now the counselling happens after the merit list and cut offs have been released. And the merit list is prepared according to the marks you have scored and the Category details you have mentioned while filling in the application form. Now though your score might be more than the General Category, your Category cannot be changed. You will be still considered under EWS Category and you will be expected to submit documents accordingly. If you fail to do so, your admission might stand cancelled.
