RBI Assistant Selection Procedure – Prelims Online Objective Type Examination
The first very first stage of RBI Assistant selection procedure 2019 is the preliminary online examination. Only those candidates can appear for this examination whose applications have been accepted by the RBI and who have their admit cards for the prelims exam. The prelims exam of RBI Assistant contains 100 questions for 100 marks. The exam has questions from three sections - Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability and English Language with 35, 35 and 30 questions each respectively. The 100 questions from all 3 sections have to be attempted in 1 hour. Each correct answer will fetch 1 mark, while each incorrect answer will be given -0.25 marks.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern – Preliminary Exam (Objective Type Questions)
Only those candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in the mains examination, who manage to secure the minimum sectional cut off marks and the state-wise cut off marks.
The marks of RBI Assistant prelims exam will not be considered for the final selection of RBI Assistant exam.
RBI Assistant Selection Procedure 2019 – Bio-metric Data Capturing
The biometric data (thumb impression or otherwise) and photograph of the candidates are captured and verified on the day of the mains exam. This process is done for the candidates who manage to qualify the preliminary examination and appear for the mains. The decision of the authority regarding the biometric data verification status (matched or unmatched) shall be final and binding upon the candidates.
RBI Assistant Selection Procedure – Online Mains Objective Type Exam
RBI Assistant second stage exam is mains exam which can be taken by only the shortlisted candidates of prelims exam. According to RBI, the mains exam has 5 sections – Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. Each section has 40 questions for 40 marks. However, unlike prelims, the mains examination has sectional timings. Reasoning, English Language, and Numerical Ability sections have to be completed in 30 minutes each. However, for General Awareness and Computer Knowledge, candidates will get 25 and 20 minutes respectively. Each correct answer will be given 1 mark, while for every incorrect answer option, 1/4th or 0.25 marks will be deducted. The examination is also objective in nature and is held for 2.15 hours.
RBI Assistant Exam Pattern 2019 - Mains Exam (Objective Type Questions)

Candidates need to secure the sectional cut off marks as well as the state-wise cutoff marks to be shortlisted for the next stage of RBI Assistant selection procedure 2019. It must be noted that the overall/final selection will take into account the marks of mains exam.
Note: Except the English paper, all other papers of prelims and mains exam will be conducted in English and Hindi languages.
RBI Assistant Selection Procedure – Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
Only those candidates will be eligible to appear in the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) who manage to secure the minimum cut off marks in mains examination. The language proficiency test is held in the Official/Local Language of the state concerned. Those candidate, who are found not proficient in the Official/Local Language would be disqualified. Thus, this stage is also critical in terms of final selection.

RBI Assistant Selection Procedure – Final Selection
Final selection of the candidates will be based on their performance in the mains exam, biometric verification and Language Proficiency Test taken together in order of merit as per the reservation requirements, medical fitness and submitting acceptable documentary evidence in respect of all eligibility criteria such as Age, Educational qualification, Category, Caste Certificate, etc.
The merit list will be prepared by taking into account the total marks scored by the candidates plus category-wise sectional and overall qualifying marks.
Candidates who are finally selected to join as RBI Assistant, will be promoted to Grade A Officer (Assistant Manager) after five years of their service, subject to their performance in the departmental examination. Post this, candidates may become Grade B Officer or Manager, Grade C Officer or Assistant General Manager, Grade D Officer or Deputy General Manager, Grade E Officer or General Manager and Grade F Officer (wherein the designations are Deputy Governors and Governors). Usually, the RBI Assistants can be promoted to the level of Deputy Governor in case he/she is extremely talented. After their joining, candidates are eligible for a basic pay scale of Rs. 14650 per month with other allowances (Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Transport Allowance, etc). Currently, the initial monthly Gross salary for RBI Assistants is approximately Rs. 32124. Initially, the candidates may be posted in RBI’s office within the Recruitment Zone they had applied for. However, they can be transferred to any branch/centre in West, South, North and East Zone offices.

For RBI Assistant Exam, you need to be between 20 to 28 years of age pls should be a graduate in any discipline with 50% marks. For reserved categories (SC/ST/PWD candidates), they just need to pass graduation in any discipline. Knowledge of word processing on PC is required too.
Candidates applying for post in a particular recruiting office should be proficient in the language (to read, write, speak and understand the language) of the state/ any of the states falling under the recruiting office.

Time management: In prelim exam your target is to get more marks in less time as the questions are comparatively easy. If you are good at English you can score more in less time.
Balance speed and acccuracy- Reasoning is a very scoring section in which you get the best balance of speed and accuracy.
Practice for the exam: build on on your basics and fundamentals. Analyse your performance and work on your ‘improvement area’ to score more by taking a lot of mock tests.
