WBCS Notification 2020 - West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has released the WBCS 2020 notification for all the aspiring candidates. WBCS notification 2020 has been released on the official website of the WBPSC. The notification of WBCS contains the important dates related to the application form, admit card, exam dates, etc. As per WBCS 2020 notification, eligible candidates can fill the application form along with the payment of online application fee from November 5 to 25, 2019. However, the application fee in offline mode can be paid till November 26, 2019. Candidates must apply and pay fee for WBCS exam within the allotted time frame.

WBCS 2020 Notification - Eligibility Criteria

Only those candidates can fill the application form who meet the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria has been mentioned in the notification of WBCS 2020 on the basis of Nationality, age and education qualifications of the candidates.


Candidates must be citizens of India


For Group A, C and D - Between 21 and 36 years (as on January 1, 2020)

For Group B - Between 20 and 36 years (as on January 1, 2020)

Relaxation of age (Upper age limit)

  • SC and ST candidates: 5 years

  • OBC candidates: 3 years

  • PwD candidates: upto 45 years(11:30 am onwards)

Note: Only candidates belonging to reserved categories from West Bengal are eligible for age relaxation.

  • Education Qualification – Graduation from a recognised University

WBCS Application Form 2020

WBPSC will release the application form of WBCS 2020 on November 5, 2019. WBCS application form will be available in online mode till November 25, 2019. The application fee to fill the form is Rs. 210 for general and OBC candidates which could be paid in both online as well as offline mode. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD category from West Bengal are exempted from paying the application fee.

  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Mains exam

  • Number of papers: 8

  • Duration of each paper: 3 hours

Personality Test

  • Total marks of the test: 200

  • Type of questions: Pertaining to general interest

  • The aim of the test: To assess candidates’ personal qualities

WBCS Selection Process 2020

West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) conducts WBCS exam in three stages – prelims, mains and personality test. To be shortlisted for the Mains exam, candidates must obtain more than or equal to WBCS prelims cutoff determined by the Commission. Candidates securing the qualifying cut off marks in the Mains exam will be called for Personality Test. On the basis of candidates’ performance in the Personality Test, a provisional list will be prepared to recruit candidates for the various posts available.

Difference between FET and FISLM and their advantage.

FET, basically Fellowship Entrance Test is conducted by NBE(National Board of Examinations) for admission to various fellowship programmes that are offered by NBE. Basically, it is an entrance exam to get admission into Post Doctoral FNB programme.

FISLM refers to Faculty council of interdisciplinary Studies, Law and Management. The FISLM courses are affiliated to Faculty Council of Engineering and Technology. This exam offers a degree in M.E. or M.Tech. from Jadavpur University.

you did not mention the exam name which you have applied under west bengal public service commission, however if you are asking about wbcs (west bengal civil service), you can not change the optional subject name once you have final submitted the application form.

will reading of the text from class five to ten be sufficient for cracking any wbcs post? how can i enhance the possibility of getting any job?

I don't think just 1 to 10th covers whole syllabus of WBCS exam
Here is the syllabus you need to cover.
General studies
The constitution on India and economy
Analytical reasoning
You have may more things to get Understand.
You have different syllabus for prelims exam like
English composition
General science
History of India etc,
