The ministry released the notification of RPF Constable to recruit both male and female candidates for the post of Constable in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) for various zones of Indian Railways. The recruitment process is conducted in three stages – Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test/ Physical Measurement Test (PET/ PMT) and Document Verification. To be recruited for the post, candidates must qualify each stage of the exam. After all stages of the exam are conducted, a final merit list is prepared to recruit candidates for the post of Constable in RPF and RPSF.

RPF Constable eligibility criteria has been prescribed by Ministry of Railways along with the notification. As per the eligibility criteria of RPF Constable, candidates must be citizens of India. To be eligible for the exam, candidates should be between 18 and 28 years of age. Candidates must have passed class 10 from a recognised Board and those awaiting the result of class 10 are not eligible to apply for the exam.
Ministry of Railways released RPF Constable application form in online mode. Applicants who have submitted more than one application form were disqualified form appearing in the exam. After filling the application form, candidates have to pay the fee either online or offline. The application fee for general candidates was Rs. 500 while female, SC, ST and OBC category candidates were required to pay Rs. 250. However, Rs. 400 is refunded for general candidates successfully appearing in Computer Based Test and Rs. 250 will be refunded for women, SC, ST and OBC candidates.
Steps to fill application form:

Subscribe NowMinistry of Railways has provided the exam pattern of RPF Constable along with the notification. As per RPF Constable exam pattern, Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted for 1 hour 30 minutes. The test will consist of 120 questions. Since each question carry 1 mark, the test carries total 120 marks. According to the marking scheme, 1/3 marks (0.33) will be deducted for every wrong answer. RPF Constable exam pattern for CBT has been provided in the table below.

Candidates qualifying CBT will be called for PET/ PMT. This exam stage is qualifying in nature and therefore, no marks will be awarded in PET/ PMT. There will be three events for both male and female candidates. The events of PET is given below.

Ministry of Railways issues the call letter of RPF Constable in online mode. The admit card is released separately for the three stages of the exam – Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Measurement Test (PET/PMT) and Document Verification. The admit card is released 10 days before the commencement of exam. The admit card contains candidates’ name, date of birth, dates, time and venue of exam, exam day guidelines and other relevant details of the exam. On the day of the exam, candidates must carry one valid photo ID proof and a photograph identical to the one provided during registration along with copy of the admit card.

The answer key of RPF Constable is released online by Ministry of Railways. To download the answer key, candidates have to enter roll number, date of birth, date of exam, batch and CAPTCHA code. Based on the answer key, candidates can know the correct answers to questions asked in the exam. Using the answer key, candidates can calculate their probable score in the exam. The Ministry releases only the answer key of Computer Based Test. The answer key is available in the form of a pdf file.
The Ministry of Railways will announce the result of RPF Constable in three stages – Computer Based Test (CBT), PET/PMT and final result. The result for all stage of the exam will be released online in pdf format. Candidates will be selected for subsequent stages of the exam on the basis of the result of previous stage. The result of each stage will contain the names and roll numbers of candidates who have qualified the exam stage and are eligible to appear in the next stage of selection process. On the basis of result of CBT, candidates will be shortlisted for PET/PMT. Candidates qualifying PET/PMT will be called for Document Verification. After Document Verification, a final result will be declared on the basis of candidates’ performance CBT subject to qualifying PET/PMT.

The cutoff of RPF Constable is determined by the Ministry of Railways. The cutoff is released after the completion of each stage of exam. The Ministry of Railways defines RPF Constable cut off 2018 for Computer Based Test to select candidates for PET/PMT. After the completion of PET/PMT, candidates qualifying the exam stage are called for Document Verification (DV). After DV, final cutoff is prepared by the Ministry on the basis of which candidates are recruited for the post of constable in Railway Protection Force.

RPF is one of the most demanding jobs which provides a lot of benefits and they get a decent salary. RPF salary per scale is 5200/- to 20,200/- along with a grade pay of 2000/-. The salary depends on the class X,Y,Z cities.
For class X cities: salary is 21,700/- and gross salary is 31,270/-(provides basic facilities)
For class Y cities: salary is 21,700/- and gross salary is 29,636/-
For class Z cities: salary is 21,700/- and gross salary is 27,902/-
