About RBI Grade B Officer 2019

Reserve Bank of India conducts RBI Officer Grade B for three posts that are – Officers in Grade ‘B’(DR) – General, Officers in Grade ‘B’(DR) – DEPR (Department of Economics and Policy Research) and Officers in Grade ‘B’(DR) – DSIM (Department of Statistics and Information). Candidates whose age is between 21 to 30 years of age are eligible to apply for RBI Officer Grade B. The selection process for RBI Officer Grade ‘B’ (DR) – General, Officers in Grade ‘B’(DR) – DEPR and Officers in Grade ‘B’(DR) – DSIM includes two phases of online examination that are phase – I online examination and phase – II /paper – II and III online/written examination followed by interview. Candidates are required to appear in all the shifts of Phase - II/Paper - II and paper III to get selected for the next round of recruitment process.

RBI Grade B Officer 2019 Eligibility Criteria

RBI Officer Grade B Eligibility Criteria 

Before filling the online application form, candidates must check the eligibility criteria of RBI Officer Grade B so that they cannot be disqualified at any later stage of the selection procedure. The eligibility criteria are prescribed by the exam conducting body which includes details such as nationality, age, educational qualification and number of attempts.

Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

All the candidates applying for RBI Officer Grade B must be a 

  • Citizen of India
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A subject of Nepal
  • or Tibetan refugee who came to India with an intention to settle permanently. Indian origin persons, migrated from Sri Lanka, Uganda, Burma, Pakistan, the United Republic of Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia, Tanzania to settle permanently in India. 

Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit 

Candidates must be between 21 to 30 years of age to apply for RBI Officer Grade B. However, for the candidates who have qualified M.Phil and Ph.D. the upper age limit is 32 and 34 years respectively.

b) A PGDBA (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics with minimum 55% marks from IIT Kharagpur, IIM Calcutta or ISI Kolkata

RBI Officer Grade B Admit Card 

The admit of RBI Officer Grade B is released separately for RBI Officers in Grade ‘B’ (DR) – (General) and DEPR/DSIM in online mode only.  Only those candidates who have successfully completed the application procedure will receive the admit card of RBI Officer Grade B. Along with the admit card, candidates have to carry one valid ID proof such as Pan Card, Aadhaar Card, Passport or Voter ID card to the assigned exam centres. The details that are given in the admit card are – name, roll number, registration number, gender, the address of the exam venue, time and important guidelines related to the exam.

RBI Officer Grade B Admit Card - Phase - I

The admit card of RBI Grade B Phase - I examination has been released on July 31 in online mode. Candidates could download their admit card by entering their roll number/registration number and password/date of birth in the login window on the official website. Candidates are advised to carry at least one ID proof such as Voter ID Card, Passport, Bank Passbook, Pan Card or Aadhar Card along with their admit card to the exam centres. The details given in the admit card of RBI Officer Grade B are - date of birth, name, gender, roll number, the address of the exam centre, and reporting time.

RBI Grade B Officer Phase II Admit Card

The admit card of RBI Officer Grade B Officer Grade B Interview is available now. Registered candidates are sent the Interview call letters to the registered candidates. RBI had released the admit card of RBI Officer Grade B 2018 phase II exam on September 6. Registered candidates can download their admit card of RBI Officer Grade B in online mode by entering roll number/registration number and password/date of birth. RBI Officer Grade B admit card can be downloaded separately for General, DSIM, and DEPR. The admit card of RBI Officer Grade B 2018 is released only for those candidates whose applications have been accepted by the RBI. It must be noted that RBI Officer Grade B admit card 2019 will not be sent to any candidates by any other means – post, courier, etc.

RBI Officer Grade B Result 

RBI Officer Grade B result is declared separately for phase – I, phase - II and Interview. Candidates selected in the first phase have to undergo the phase - II (online/written examination) to get selected for the interview. After all the selection procedures, a final merit list will be prepared by Reserve Bank of India. The final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in phase – II and interview by the candidates and the result will be available on the official website of RBI.

RBI Grade B Officer Phase I Result

The result of RBI Officer Grade B for the post of General, DEPR and DSIM was released on September 5, 2018. Candidates shortlisted in Phase - I had to appear for Phase - II examination which was conducted on September 15 and 16 for the post of General, DEPR and DSIM. 

RBI Grade B Officer Phase II Result

 RBI released the RBI Officer Grade B result for DEPR and DSIM on October 25, 2018 in the form of PDF whereas for the post of General the result was declared on October 8, 2018. The shortlisted candidates in Phase II will have to appear for the next round of selection procedure that is the interview. 

RBI Officer Grade B Cut Off

All the appearing candidates for RBI Officer Grade B have to secure the minimum cut off marks in all the phases in order to get shortlisted for the next round of selection process. Candidates appearing for RBI Officer Grade B 2018 phase – I examination, have to secure the minimum qualifying marks to get shortlisted for the next phase. The minimum RBI Officer Grade B cut off marks for paper – II and paper – III is decided by RBI in accordance with the number of vacancies available.

RBI Grade B Officer 2019 Selection Process

RBI Officer Grade B Selection Procedure 

The RBI Officer Grade B selection procedure includes – online/written exam and personal interview. Candidates have to write all the exams according to the post they have applied for to get shortlisted for the next phase. They need to qualify phase – I to appear for the phase – II examination. Those who qualify the phase – II examination will be called for a personal interview. The interview will be conducted for a total of 50 marks. Final selection will be based on the marks obtained in phase – II and interview by the candidates. For the candidates who have applied for the post of RBI Officers in Grade B (DR) - DEPR/DSIM will be selected on the basis of their marks obtained in online/written examination (WE) and interview.

  • Mark Sheet/Certificate of Class 10 and 12 examination
  • Certificate regarding degree/post-graduate/other examinations passed
  • Character certificate
  • Passport size photographs and one should attached to interview call letter
  • SC/ST/OBC categories must bring the Caste/Community certificate issued by the Competent Authority
  • Medical Certificate for physically challenged candidates

RBI Grade B Officers Recruitment 2018: Eligibility Criteria


1. Nationality: The candidates who wish to apply for this exam must be either-


A citizen of India

A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

Tibetan Refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement

Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India.


Note: Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favor.


2. Age Limits:


The minimum age limit to apply for this exam is 21 years, whereas the upper age limit is 30 years. For candidates with M.Phil. Degree, the upper age limit is 32 years and for candidates holding Ph.D. Degree, it is 34 years.

For OBC –3 years


For Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Employee of Banking Institutions –5 years


3. Minimum Educational Qualification:


For Officers in Gr B (DR) General: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD) or an equivalent grade along with 60% marks or equivalent in 12th and 10th standard. The minimum percentage is the total of all the marks obtained in all the semesters.


For Officers in Gr B (DR) DEPR: A Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance with a minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD). The minimum percentage is the total of all the marks obtained in all the semesters.


Candidates having Master’s Degree along with Research/Teaching experience at a recognized Indian/Foreign University/Institute will be eligible for upper age limit relaxation up to a maximum of three years.


For Officers in Gr B (DR) DSIM:


(a) A Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the aggregate of all the semesters; OR


(b) Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the aggregate of all semesters/years and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from a reputed institute; OR


(c) M. Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate of all semesters/years; OR


(d) Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the aggregate of all semesters/years.


Candidates having Master’s Degree along with Research/Teaching experience at a recognized Indian/Foreign University/ Institute will be eligible for upper age limit relaxation up to a maximum of three years.
