UPSC Civil Services Application Form 2018 – Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for mains exam online on July 23. Candidates who have qualified for the mains exam can submit UPSC Civil Services application form 2018 till August 6. Candidates have been shortlisted for mains exam on the basis of marks obtained in prelims. The application fee of UPSC Civil Services for mains examination is Rs. 200 for General and OBC category candidates while SC, ST and women applicants are exempted from paying the fee. Candidates not paying the application fee will be considered as fictitious payment cases.
Candidates who had appeared for their final year of graduation but result was pending were eligible to apply for UPSC Civil Services Prelims. However, if such candidates have qualified the prelims stage, they will need to provide proof of having passed the required exam along with Detailed Application Form. Candidates must keep the following documents handy while filling the application form of UPSC Civil Services 2018.
Proof of passing graduation
Class 10 certificate
Aadhaar card, voter card, PAN card, passport, driving license, ID card issued by educational institution/office or other photo ID proof issued by Central/State Government (any one)
UPSC Civil Services Application Form 2018 for mains exam
Candidates who have qualified prelims exam can fill the Detailed Application Form (DAF). Candidates belonging to OBC (NCL) category must fill OBC proforma along with UPSC 2018 DAF. Candidates had to be careful while filling UPSC Civil Services 2018 application form for prelims as they will not be allowed to make changes in the following fields – exam centre, optional subject, Indian language paper (Paper-A) and medium of examination in the Detailed Application Form. Candidates should ensure that the DAF has been filled properly as candidature of applicants submitting incorrect information or incomplete application form will be rejected. They must also submit requisite documents along with the DAF. Candidates must indicate the services for which they are interested in the order of preference. Once the preferences have been submitted, candidates will not be permitted to make further changes regarding the same.
UPSC Civil Services Application Form 2018 for prelims
The application form of UPSC Civil Services for prelims was available online from February 7 to March 6, 2018. The application form had to be filled in two stages – Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 consisted of registration process which included providing personal and educational information while Part 2 required selecting exam centre, uploading photograph and signature and fee payment. Candidates who had applied successfully were issued admit card for UPSC Civil Services prelims. The application fee for prelims was Rs. 100 for General and OBC candidates while female, SC and ST applicants were exempted from paying the fee.
Applicants could remit application fee online via SBI net banking or by cash via SBI bank challan or via credit card/debit card. Aspirants were required to submit the specified application fee before the deadline. Candidates who had submitted more than one application had to ensure that only the completed final application form devoid of errors was accepted.

Q. The date of birth provided in my Class 10 Board certificate does not match with that provided in the application form of UPSC CSE 2018. Can I change it?
Ans: Candidates had to ensure that the date of birth they have provided in the application form must match with that mentioned in the class 10 boards certificate as the Commission will not entertain request for changes in the same.
Q. I belong to ST category. Will I need to pay fee for the Detailed Application Form?
Ans: Women candidates as well as applicants belonging to SC and ST categories are exempted from paying the application fee.
Q. What if I do not pay the application fee of UPSC Civil Services application form 2018?
Ans: A list of such candidates will be made available online by UPSC within two weeks from the last day of registration. Candidates failing pay the requisite fee within the specified date will be sent e-mail on their registered email ID regarding submission of proof of payment. Applicants will need to submit the proof within ten days failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
