RPF Selection Process 2018 – Ministry of Railways conducts RPF recruitment exam to recruit candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector and Constable in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) of Indian Railways. RPF selection process 2018 has been specified for both SI and Constable post on the official notification. The selection process for both posts includes three exam stages - Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test & Physical Measurement Test (PET & PMT) and Document Verification (DV). On the basis of the three recruitment stages, candidates are selected for the posts of SI and constables. Candidates must secure the minimum cutoff in each stage of the exam to be shortlisted for the next stage of RPF selection process 2018. As per the press release published on December 12, around 73 lakh candidates will appear for the Computer Based Test.

Stages of RPF 2018 exam

RPF is held in three exam stages to select candidates for final recruitment of candidates to Sub-Inspector (SI) and Constable posts. The stages of RPF selection process 2018 has been explained in details below.

RPF 2018 Selection Process – Computer Based Test

Candidates who have applied successfully for the concerned post during the time specified by the Ministry of Railways will be issued admit card for Computer Based Test (CBT). The online test for both SI and Constable posts will be held separately. The standard of questions asked in CBT for SI will be similar to graduation level while the difficulty level of questions asked in the exam for Constable post will be identical to class 10. The test will consist of three sections - General Awareness, Arithmetic and General Intelligence & Reasoning. In the exam, candidates correctly indicating answer against a question will be awarded one mark. However, negative marking is applicable for the test and for every incorrect response, 1/3 marks allotted for each question will be deducted. RPF Selection Process 2018 – Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Measurement Test

Candidates securing the qualifying cut off marks in the online exam will be shortlisted to appear in PET and PMT stage of RPF 2018. Based on marks obtained in CBT, candidates 10 times the number of vacancies as per category will be selected for PET/ PMT. The test is only qualifying in nature and therefore, marks will not be allotted for the same. The gender-based PET tasks prescribed for both posts have been provided in the table below.

RPF Selection Process – Document Verification

After the PET and PMT stage, the Ministry of Railways will begin the Document Verification (DV) process. Candidates will be selected for DV on the basis of aggregate performance in CBT and PET/ PMT, i.e. marks secured in CBT subject to qualifying PET/ PMV. Candidates selected for document verification will need to appear for medical tests. Candidates qualifying the medical test will be selected for the applied posts.

What after RPF 2018 recruitment?

Candidates shortlisted for the posts after document verification will have to undergo training at RPF/RPSF centres. After completion of training, candidates passing the final exam at the end of training period will be appointed to respective posts in Railway Protection Force (RPF) of various Zones of Indian Railways and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). Candidates recruited for the post of RPF SI will be given initial pay of Rs. 35,400 and other allowances. Candidates appointed for RPF Constable will be provided initial pay of Rs 21,700 along with allowances.
