IBPS PO is a national level examination conducted annually by IBPS for the recruitment of candidates as Probationary Officers and Management Trainees in 20 participating organizations. IBPS PO is a three-staged examination – prelims, mains and an interview. Candidates need to qualify IBPS PO prelims to appear for the mains exam. Qualifying candidates for the mains exam will be called for the IBPS interview.

 IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2018


IBPS PO question paper for the prelims exam has three sections – English Language, Reasoning Aptitude and Quantitative Aptitude. The IBPS PO prelims will be of 100 marks. Each question in the question paper of IBPS PO prelims will be of one mark. One hour time will be given to complete the IBPS PO prelims exam.

IBPS PO question paper for the mains examination has four sections - Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis and Interpretation. Together these sections carry 200 marks. 180 minutes or 3 hours will be given to attempt the four sections. There is a descriptive section in the mains exam which will have two questions of 25 marks. Candidates will have to prepare letter writing and essay writing for this descriptive section. The time duration for the descriptive section is 30 minutes.


IBPS PO Marking Scheme 2018


Same marking scheme is followed for both IBPS PO prelims and IBPS PO mains. Candidates will be given +1 mark for every right answer and for every incorrect answer there will be negative marking of 0.25. No deduction of marks will be done for questions that the candidate leaves.


IBPS PO Syllabus 2018


The syllabus of IBPS PO 2018 prelims exam has topics based on three sections. Reasoning Ability section will have questions from topics like seating arrangement, puzzles, tabulation, syllogism, etc. English Language section will have questions on topics like error detection, Para jumbles, etc. Quantitative Aptitude will have questions from topics like simplifications, mensuration, profit, and loss, etc.


IBPS PO syllabus for the mains exam is based on four objective sections and a descriptive section - Quantitative Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, Reasoning and Computer Aptitude and English Language. The descriptive section includes essay writing and letter writing.
