The preliminary exam of UPSC Civil Services 2019 consist of two papers – General Studies Paper I and II. Both the papers for prelims carry 200 marks. Candidates qualifying the prelims stage of the exam will be shortlisted for UPSC Civil Services mains. UPSC CS Mains 2019 will contain nine conventional type papers – two papers are qualifying in nature while marks obtained in the other seven papers will be considered while preparing the merit list. The Mains exam will be conducted for total 1750 marks. The standard of questions asked in the papers titled ‘Indian languages’ and ‘English’ (Paper A and paper B) of Mains examination will be similar to matriculation level. Each paper will be conducted for three hours. The question papers other the literature papers will be set in Hindi and English only. The personality test is conducted for candidates who have qualified the preliminary examination. This test carries total 275 marks. The Personality Test assess a candidate’s intellectual qualities.
