HRA is the compensation paid to SSC CGL recruited employees for their accommodation. The SSC CGL HRA depends on the city of posting of the applicant. The cities are classified into three categories as per their population X, Y and Z, X being the most populated city and Z being the least populated. Travel allowance is the amount paid to employees to compensate for their travel expenses which is commuting to the workplace from their residence. It is Rs 3,600 for employees in the cities and Rs 1,800 for other places.
SSC CGL dearness allowance is the compensation given to the employees for the cost of living adjustment. It is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of basic pay and grade pay. Dearness allowance is revised quarterly to compensate for inflation in the consumer price index (CPI). The SSC CGL DA is increased or decreased depending on the rate of inflation.
