IFS Exam Pattern 2024 - For Prelims Exam

The UPSC IFS exam has two papers of general studies - GS papers 1 and 2. Each IFS prelims exam paper is of 200 marks. Prelims GS paper 1 has 100 questions whereas GS paper 2 has 80 questions. Subjects asked in the IFS prelims exam are English, General Awareness, Reasoning, Current Affairs, Polity, History, Geography and more. The duration of each IFS paper is 2 hours. Also, there is a negative marking for each incorrect answer in the preliminary exam as per the IFS exam pattern.

IFS Exam Pattern 2024 - For Mains Exam

The IFS mains exam is also conducted in an offline mode having six descriptive papers. The duration of each IFS mains paper is 3 hours each. There is no negative marking in the IFS main exam. Hello student no it's not mandatory to have a graduate degree in Bsc ZBC.

As per eligibility criteria student should be graduate with one of the following subjects to be eligible - Chemistry, Botany, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology and Statistics.

If you hold a bachelor degree in any one of the subjects mentioned above then you're eligible for UPSC IFS.

Age eligibility - Minimum 21

Maximum 32 (General category)
