MP SET follows the UGC guidelines and filters top 6% of the total appeared candidates in both papers I and II for the eligibility certificate to be Assistant Professors. However, out of these top 6% candidates, general category candidates need to secure at least 40% marks in MP SET, while reserved category candidates (OBC/SC/ST/PWD) are required to obtain at least 35% marks. Only then, they are considered for the eligibility certificate. This eligibility certificate is the document based on which the qualified candidates become eligible to apply as Assistant Professors at the colleges and universities of Madhya Pradesh.
Till 2017, MP SET would have 3 papers – Paper I, II and III, however, MPPSC has revised the exam pattern of MP SET from 2019 onwards. According to the new exam pattern, now, the test would have only 2 papers – Paper I and II. Thus, the qualifying cut off of MP SET has also changed from this year onwards.
