You should go for professional degree as a Plan B for your career because if you are not able to crack the Civil examination then you can start your career from the degree.

Civil services are always a good option.You can obviously do IAS preparation along with your degree.Infact it adds a plus point for you like if you are doing BE from any core branch like civil or mechanical you can always choose that as your subject for IAS preparation.I would like

According to me you should plan for professional degree in BA level as a plan B because if you are not able to clear the civil services exam than you can start your job accordingly
