UPSC Civil Services Exam
Hello,
Memorize UPSC Syllabus by heart, that's most important and will help you in the long run. Why? Because you'll get well acquainted with what all topics can come in examination while reading books or even newspaper.
Start off with NCERT Books, it'll make your base strong.
Read a newspaper everday, preferably the Hindu.
Only, after completing NCERTs, move to the other books.
Practice Answer Writing and go through previous year papers, no matter when you're gonna appear, if you start off with books and have a bit of decent idea about any time, write in down in your own words. Everyone struggles with this part at first, you need to keep on practicing.
Note: While writing answers about any issues, always try to ponder about its social, political and economical aspects. This gives your answer weightage in exams when a person puts forth his ideas in holistic manner.
Giving mocks on regular basis , that's very crucial, you'll get to know how you're faring and your speed.
Most importantly, have PATIENCE.
UPSC exam is a lot more about mental strength than the strength of your knowledge. It takes one year for preparation, another for examination plus interview.
All the best!
