what should I do after 12 to become IAS

pdwords Student Expert 30th May, 2021
Hello,

The eligibility criteria to appear in UPSC Civil Service Exam is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, there is no barrier on terms of belonging to specific stream, you can pursue any stream, now the question arises you want to go with a back up plan or without it, when it comes to toppers of this exam they come from diverse backgrounds hence you can choose to pursue a career in medicine, engineering, commerce or any other degree course, you can do this if at this moment you are not sure of only pursuing UPSC, however if you are only focused in this exam, then having graduation in subjects like Political science, public administration, geography, economics, history etc can help you as UPSC tends to be more humanities oriented and there is considerable overlap with general studies and optional subjects.

First of all there is no separate syllabus for IAS or IPS even all the 24 services included in recruitment through UPSC, there are three stages of exams such as prelims ,mains and interview, the post you get is dependent on the preference you have filled and the rank you secure in the exam,

The first stage is prelims which is MCQs based and it has two papers for 200 marks each, the second paper is qualifying by nature, the numbers of prelims aren't added in the final list,

I want to become ans ias officer so should i join jntu hyd Or vit chennai

Subhrajit Mukherjee 7th Jul, 2021

See for being an IAS officer there is no need of being an engineer or from any professional field. The only requirement is that you have to qualify all the tiers of UPSC CSE with good marks and you must have a graduation. Now as you are interested in Engineering then its always better to choose the best.

Among the two you have provided I would recommend you to go for VIT CHENNAI.

VIT have a very well organized curriculum such that the curriculum provides adequate skills to work in industry as well as to pursue academia. Also the faculties are very well experienced and are active in research. VIT offers a very good rate of placement about 91%. Thus if you want to get admitted in an engineering course then I would say its better to go for VIT CHENNAI. VIT CHENNAI have very good infrastructure which is really  good fact for science students.

** I would highly recommend you to conduct a research by yourself. If you find my facts relevant then only go for it , else take the decision  which will be the best for you.
