I want to become IAS officer how can i appear for IAS exam after completing 12th (Humanities) or if I have to complete graduation first so which graduation will best suit for me

Ayush Maurya 5th Dec, 2021

Hello there

You have taken a very nice and tough decision but with continuous effort and dedication everything's possible. So basically to become an IAS officer or you say to be eligible to give upsc cse exam you need a graduation degree from any recognised university.

So it doesn't matters whether you are from humanities background or something else. Do whatever suits you well. Do whatever you like.

Hope it helps!

Thank you!

Ayush Maurya 7th Dec, 2021

Hello aspirant

Hoping you are doing good. As you must be knowing to become an IAS officer you have to clear three stages of exam that is prelims mains and interview.

Now the first step to start for the preparation of an upsc cse exam to make your basics clear and to clear it you need to be very good in all your previous classes mostly in the social studies one.

So study thoroughly all the ncert books of social studies as they will be helping you so much. Start from class 6 and do upto class 12 and after that you can do standard books.

That will be very easy for you.

Best of luck !

Thank you !

Since you are in highschool i will suggest totaly focus on your school complete your 10+2 with dedicated effort.Read your subjects properly have good command over them, also you can read books on social and economic issues in order to diversify your horizone if you are interested and if you are able to managed time but not when exam is near.

Try to find where you are interested in, analyse your personality what kind of person you are and how u wants to become.Once you are in graduation there is plenty of time in between, go through the syllabus, identify area where you comfortable, get the study material of Genaral Studies read it seriously in a preparation mode as you are going to give this attempt.

Im in class 12th and its Mid Year. Im a Non-Med student And My Main Aim is to become an IAS Officer but Im not sure that what should i do after 12th i.e Im 16 yrs old and its nearly 5 yrs left for UPSC exam { as the age limit is from 21 to 32} I have no interest in engineering so pls help :(

Ayush Maurya 16th Dec, 2021

Hello aspirant

As you know so much on the things about age limit and all so you also must be knowing that to crack UPSC exam a candidate must be a graduate from any recognised University doesn't matter in which stream you did your graduation.

As you have mentioned that you don't want to do engineering so no problem you are having lots of choices to do in your graduation.

See you don't want to do engineering then you can do graduation in bachelor of arts which most of the students who want to prepare for UPSC exam and it helps them so much because most of the syllabus coincide with the syllabus of UPSC CSE exam but still if you don't want to do to this graduation you can do some technical things also not engineering but Bachelor of Science which would not be that much Lengthy like engineering and you will be getting a lot of time to prepare for UPSC CSE exam.

Again if you don't find these things helpful you can do anything in whichever you feel interest as academics too matter very much.

Hope it helps!

thank you!
