Is opting ba hold good for perusing IAS?

Bhumika Rani 26th May, 2019

Hi aspirant

There are students opting various streams of study and later on when they decide to go for IAS ,there might be slight effect due to your graduation.Like doctors who opt MBBS before IAS ,Engineers who opted B.Tech/B.E ,CAs who opt B.Com .There can be anyone opting anything.

If you are clear about preparing for IAS and you wish to prepare it from your graduation you can choose subjects like history hons, economics hons,Polity honors .These subjects are predominantly asked in UPSC exam.

Even if you don't choose all of these subjects in your graduation you will have to prepare these subjects.

UPSC

Paper1:Essay writing

Paper 2: General Studies – I (Indian Heritage & Culture, History & Geography of the World & Society)

Paper 3:General Studies – II (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice & International Relations)

Paper 4:General Studies –  III (Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Security & Disaster Management)

Paper 5:Ethics, Integrity & Aptitude)

Paper 6& 7 are optional .You can choose anything but rest of the papers are common for everyone .So you can decide whether you want to prepare it from your graduation or not.And choose your graduation subjects on the basis of these UPSC papers.

All the best.

I want to be an IAS officer then graduation by which subject is good with maths honours or with economics honours?

Mansi Singh 25th May, 2019
Hello,
The first thing is for UPSC, the eligibility is graduation. It doesn't specify the subjects for graduation. So you may pursue graduation in any subjects of your choice.
If you like both Mathematics and Economics, then according to UPSC syllabus, very basic maths (till class 10) is asked in CSAT. But the economics covers major portion of UPSC. So I will suggest you to pursue Economic hons. as it will benefit you in pre as well as mains. Rest depends upon your own interest.

i ,12th with commerce with 87.25 % ,but i want IAS exam . what subject chose in graduation

Sanchita Jain 24th May, 2019

Hello student,

Choosing of subject will depends on you and how much you are devoted for your carrer. If you are good in commerce subject go through with b.com and do side by side preparation for IAS and this will also helps you to plan a backup if unfortunately you missed in IAS.

But if you strictly devoted towards the IAS then join some easy and less time consuming course because after that most of your time you can devote for IAS .

thank you

Good luck

Sir can you told me top 10 best coaching of ias. Where fee is low, or those coaching name where I will pay fee monthly in delhi or allhabad

Akash kumar 23rd May, 2019

Hey Akhilesh,

For preparation of UPSC, i don't think coaching clascla will matter most, I thibt rather than going for the famous exoenexpe coaching classes, go for yhe few unknown ones as you mostly know the course and other stuff. Coaching classes will however  provide you content and few doubt clearing sessions but i think you can do that online as well. And as you prefer not to pay more, i will suggest you to go to Allahabad because Delhi will be so much expensive to live.

Sir can you tell me any good idea, for money by which I can prepare of ias in any good coaching. In this time I am pursuing graduation.

Nandhini Student Expert 21st May, 2019
Since you are pursuing graduation, first think if you can manage to work, student for UPSC and your university exams at the same time. Else, take a break for a year. Then take up any part time job or something which matches your preparation and go for it. You may also try doing any online jobs (beware of the scams too). Even 3-4 hours of self study and proper revision would do to crack the exam. Make sure you invest your time and money a proper way.

Can i preparation ias with teaching or any full time job, because I need money for coaching institute

Nandhini Student Expert 21st May, 2019
Hello student,
Understand the fact that not everyone can afford the cost of top coaching institutes. I would suggest you one thing. If you can't go for the full coaching fees, just plan for self study and take up only the test series. Also, some institutes offer scholarships and fee concessions. These scholarships will be based on the exam they conduct. If you clear it, then you can take up the coaching with a nominal fees. When you go through the history of toppers, a half of them would have been working proffesionals only. Just see their strategy and work and plan accordingly.
Good luck
