GATE and UPSE CSE exams will offer you different responsibilities. What matters is what kind of work you want to do in the future. If you are interested in civil services go for UPSC CSE. If you want higher studies or job at PSU go for GATE. You can also consider preparing for UPSC ESE which will give you an IAS Officer equivalent rank in field of Engineering.
Hello,
The earlier you start the preparation of Civil Services exam the better it would be. Civil Services exam is one of the most toughest exams in India. You need continues and devoted preparation to crack this exam.
The basics as shared by the previous year toppers say that you need to first get to know the course correctly. CSE has a vast course and you need to have a proper plan to get it completed.
As you are in first year engineering so you should read some subjects which you can remember till the end of your graduation. And you should not go with history like subjects which are just meant to be remembered as history which you will forget till you give exam.
Thank you
Hi Utkarsh!
Believe me, it's the best time to start your preparation for civil service!! You have 2 and half years to study.. If you plan properly, you can clear UPSE in your first attemt!! It doesn't matter, what degree you are doing. It's your dedication towards the goal reaches you to the goal!! I will explain, what I will do if Iam in your situation.1. First I analyse my self about, Why I want to become civil servent ( 15 days). By the end of 15 days, I will have my goals after becoming civil servant. 2. As a second step I go through the detailed syllabus of the 3 rounds of the exam. ( 1-2 weeks ) 3. My third step will be clearly analyse the question papers and understand, what I have to focus more and what not.... ( 1- 2 months)It's very important step.4. Now I start reading Hindu news paper almost 1 hour/ day. Remaining time I'll spend with NCERT books. I also start spending my weekends in some of nice websites and magazines for UPSE. ( 6 months )Oh... Don't you have time to do all these?... Come on !! Many people includimg me do all these while working. And student life is much better than working. Still you will be havimg more than 1.5 years !! 5. Now you'll be comfortable with basics. This is your second phase of studies... Go through the blogs of toppers. You'll come to know, what are the reference books, you have to study. Prepare those!!All the best Sorry for spell and grammar mistakes. I typed it through mobile... I spent considerable time to type it. Hope it is useful.....

Hi Bharti,
There must be some students who are taking and who took some guidance from this application. They might have been able to understand a lot of topics but at the end of the day, the self notes and revisions, work more than any application. BYJU's is quite helpful for students of not just school but college too, no doubt. But I don't think so one can completely count on this for the entire preparation for an exam like UPSC IAS.
Hope the answer helped. Good luck!
Hello aspirant!
Having a dream to become an IAS officer is fantastic but the exams are way tougher than you can imagine. Civil Services Entrance Examination in India is the most difficult exam of our country. If you have completed BSC, I would advice you to get very serious and join a coaching institute in your city to properly focus on your studies. You can get mock tests and proper notes to perform well in your examination. I hope this information was helpful!
I wish you all the very best!
Yes, you can start preparing, but you can give the first exam or prelims only in the final year of Graduation or upon completing Graduation.
Also your age must be 21.
