Hello Supriya
Glad to see that you are interested for UPSC at that age.But i would suggest you to prepare for your 11th and 12th exams because you will get so much time to prepare yourself for UPSC after 12th.Also you have mentioned that you are from Science Stream, that means if you have mathematics as one of your subject it will be beneficial for you because there are many topics where they ask Mathematics questions.
After completing your class 12th,i would suggest you to do BA from any good university like DU,JNU,BHU because this course will help you the most when you prepare for UPSC because there topics is related to History,Polity and Geography which covers almost half of the syllabus for UPSC.
But right now, i want you to focus on you 11th and 12th then go for UPSC because you should have 21 years of age and also graduation degree then only you can give UPSC.
Hope It Helps
Best Of Luck!
Hello,
First of all, right now you're only in 11th Standard, so you have got a lot of time in hands to prepare for UPSC.
To give you a basic idea about UPSC exam, it consists of three level-
Preliminary numbers are not added in the final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category. It mainly consists of GS Paper-I and CSAT. Both consists of 200 marks, MCQs based.
Mains is more of a subjective type, one needs to write answer for Four General Studies Paper,Two Optionals, One Essay, two language paper, there are total nine papers here. 250 marks for each paper, total is 1750
Right now, your only priority should be to focus on your current studies wholeheartedly, and excel in it.The biggest advantage you have right now is time and if you use it wisely, it'll help you succeed in the time to come. You can go through the gradual steps as mentioned below in order to start your preparation for UPSC, but do remember not to neglect your studies at any point in time.
Faria, though BA LLB is an integrated course, you get your Original degree and relevant certificates only after the completion of the course, You do not get 2 certificates at completion of BA and LLB. In such case, you cannot appear for UPSC post the completion of just BA. You will have to complete the course and then appear for UPSC. Or you can even appear for UPSC in your final year.
Dear Aspirant,
IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services which falls under the machinery of All Indian Services alongside IPS or Indian Police Services and IFS to Indian Forest Services. IAS is the most competitive among the three.
The work of an IAS Officer is to assist the ruling government through policy making and administration of districts. They are also responsible for implementing the policies and providing feedback to the concerned ministry about the implementation status and effects. They are answerable to the parliament and state legislatures for maintaining law and order, crisis management, revenue collection, and more. They begin their career with duties at a sub-divisional level.
The exam is open to all Indian citizens. The candidates must have an undergraduate degree from a recognised college. Candidates with a correspondence education or a qualification recognized by the Government of India are also eligible. Final year students are also approved for application to the first stage of the exam. The age limit is 21 to 32 years. There is a relaxation of SC/ST/OBC candidates.
So first of all, you need to clarify CSE which is conducted to recruit civil servants. The success rate of the UPSC Civil Service Exam (CSE) is thus less than 1%, and therefore, it is the most difficult exam in the country.
There are three parts to this- Preliminary exam, Main Exam and Interview.
For Preliminary, there are two papers of 200 marks each. The first paper is based on General Studies and the second is to check the Comprehension and Analytical Ability.
The Main Exam has tons of papers which are as follows:
After this if you qualify, you are called for the interview.

Both doing MBA from top b -school and UPSC are good career options. As both have good salary and benefit of itself.
If you do M.B.A from top b school you get chance to work in private companies where you get good salary depending on your skills. You will grow your career as you proove your skills.
On the other hand if you are interested in social work and want to work for betterment of people you can give upsc exam and become an IAS or IPS. Here you have fixed salary and increment.but it provide a kind of prestige and honor.
Both career options are good it depend on you to choose that career which suits your intrest best.

Alternatively, Bachelors in Public Administration/Public Policy is a good choice as “public administration” is the main job of an IAS officer. ...
Hi Monika,
Yes, of course. You are eligible and can apply for that. However, you can only apply for the UPSC Civil Services exam when you will be in your final year or would have been completed your engineering degree.
According to the eligibility criteria for UPSC Civil Services Exam (for IAS), you have to either complete graduation or equivalent degree or you should be in your final year or graduation in any of the field.
So, yes, you can apply for this and you will be shocked to hear that most of the UPSC Exam toppers were ENGINEERS only. This is because Engineering is a professional degree in which you come to recognize about your sitting power and other study techniques.
I hope this helps you.
Good Luck for being an IAS !.
