Is the correct way to select the political science for IAS?

Akram Khan 10th Jan, 2020

Hi veeresh,

As I told you earlier the correct methods are different for different people. Some combination suits one while for some  other combination of the subjects suits.

the paper 3rd includes polity and related questions so if you choose it as an optional paper then it become beneficial for both the papers to study political sciences.

Similar is the case of history and geography they are part of paper 3. So if you choose these as optional subject than definitely your studies for paper 3 are also getting easy.

And for most these subjects are easy to understand also.

So you can choose political sciences as an optional subject if you want. However before deciding for yourself take a deep look on syllabus then choose according to your convenience.

Hope you find the information helpful.

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 10th Jan, 2020
Hello there!

IAS i.e Indian Administrative Service is the premier service in India and offers an attractive and challenging career and as an IAS officer you get exposure in very diverse roles like the collector, commissioner, head of public sector units, chief secretary, cabinet secretary etc.
Now , coming to how you can become an IAS officer, I would like to tell you that to become an IAS officer
, you need to appear in and clear one of the toughest examination called UPSC, which has 3 stages which are listed below :-

  • The first stage of the exam is Preliminary examination (objective )
  • The second stage, Mains (written).
  • If you manage to clear both prelims and mains then you are to go through interview/personality test .

And if you managed to clear all the three rounds mentioned above, then congratulations to you , fulfil all your dreams and can become an IAS officer

But yes, becoming an IAS officer is not that easy as it sounds due to the competition involved, but also not impossible for you if you prepare for it with full dedication and hardwork with right attitude and approach.
You need to start your preparation for UPSC as soon as possible, you need to start your preparation at least 9-12 months before the exam date, you can even start your preparation for UPSC while pursuing your graduation as well . You need to go through the syllabus of UPSC well and ince you complete the whole syllabus you should go for mock tests, you can make a routine and try to religiously follow it and if you remain dedicated towards achieving your goal, you will be able to fulfil your dream of becoming an IAS officer.
I hope that you find this helpful

I am 12th student from pcm and want to become an IAS so I want to ask u that which subject do I prefer after 12th so that it will help me for my IAS PREPARATION🤔🤔

Parvathi Sreeraj 10th Jan, 2020

Dear Student,

As you may be well aware of you need to have an undergraduate degree in order to appear for the UPSC examination. Though you could, being a PCM student tend to opt for B.Tech after your class 12, apart from honing your mathematics  and chemistry, it does not really help with any of your stages of the examination. This is would be wiser to go for subjects like geography, anthropology, public administration or history, as they will help you with you prelims as well as one of your GS. Moreover, choosing humanities after your class twelve will also enhance your writing skills, which will help you with your essays, which is something you might lack whilst pursuing PCM allied courses. I hope that answers your query. Also, dont forgot to get started with your coaching and keep yourself updated with the current affairs.

Good luck!

Im BE(mech) jobless since 2 yrs,Im average,I hate studies and exams haunt me and even though I want to prepare for exams Im unable to concentrate or focus, I keep on regretting for not preparing for IAS,govt exams etc dont know what to do please help

Parvathi Sreeraj 10th Jan, 2020

Dear user,

First of all, stay motivated and dont lose hopes. It is okay if you haven't prepared or started preparing for competitive examinations. As you mentioned that you hate studies and exams, I am assuming that you wouldn't opt to start off preparations for civil services or government examinations now. Before we dismiss these opinions, let me tell you; competitive examination demand a lot of hardwork. And if you are willing to put in the effort, in a matter of two years (at max, if you put your best foot forward) you will be able to get past it and settle down in life. But if those options are closed, then start from somewhere. Do not sit jobless. Apply for internships, and jobs, and simultaneously consider getting into teaching field.

Now a days, many mechanical engineers are found to be teaching Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at coaching institutions and bagging a good pay. In the era of increasing rush for entrance coaching, teaching is a good alternative.

If not at an institution, start with private tuitions and see if you enjoy teaching and being around youngsters. It could give you real pleasure and a sense of satisfaction, of earning an income.

Go ahead, and make up your mind...

If there is a will, there is a way, and you too will surely find yours.

Cheers!

is that necessary to student in a named university to become ias

rajaman9300 Student Expert 6th Jan, 2020

Hello Jasmine

Name of the University has nothing to do with your Civil Services Examination.

You just need a graduation degree from any University having an NAAC certificate.

Your marks in exam and your presentation in personality test decides everything and yes until you get a call for personality test none knows any details about you such as name ,age, sex or which place you belong to.
