The total number of candidates appeared in the UGC - NET June 2018 was around 8.6 lakhs for all the subjects. Out of which only 6.5% or 55k were selected. The actual number of candidates in specific subjects was not declared and is hard to predict.

CSIR NET exam is conducted only for the science background students where as UGC NET exam is conducted for non-science students
