As per IAS eligibility criteria, candidates must be a graduate from any discipline. Every candidates appearing in the examination are permitted six attempts. The age of candidates should be 21 to 32 years.

A graduate from any course can become a civil services officer. But, the students who have studied arts have slight advantage at it because they can opt for their BA subject as their optional subject in CSI examination.
