To start with, UPSC Civil Service Exam consists of three level- Preliminary Mains Interview Preliminary numbers are not added in the final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category.It mainly consists of GS Paper-I and CSAT. Both consists of 200 marks, MCQs based.

Anyone can apply for the civil services examination irrespective of their stream(science, commerce, arts).The only requirements that need to be fullfiled before applying for this examination are.

What matter for being considered for UPSC is your performance in the Prelims, Mains and Final round of Interview. Your academic marks have no bearing for UPSC exam. Your performance in the UPSC exam is what determines your eligibility for the subsequent rounds and not your 12th or Graduation percentage.

the basic eligibility criteria for appearing in ias civil service exam is candidate need to have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university. candidates in final year of graduation may also appear in upsc IAS exam.
