In AP Degree + IAS Academy Couse Duration ? 3 or 4 years ?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 9th Mar, 2020
Hi Vamsi

Vamsi for now  , degree courses in like bsc , bcom and ba in AP are of 3 years .

But yes the Government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to launch four-year degree courses, i.e., B.A., B.Sc and B com soon and the approval for the introduction of four-year degree courses is underway as 4 year ba , bcom and bsc may be introduced soon but as of now these courses are of 3 years. In the 4 year ba , bcom and bsc , the last year i.e 4 th year will be your internship at the end of the day , it is going to improve the skills and productivity of the students .

Coming to IAS part, IAS is not a course first of all , upsc or famously known as IAS examination is a competitive examination you need to clear if you want to become IAS , IPS etc, so it all depends upon you and your pace that how much time you take to complete its syllabus, most people are able to cover the whole syllabus of upsc in 1 or 2 year.

Thankyou

i am non medical student from government school 12th class i have to became a ias officer which course is best for me to an ias officer

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 17th Apr, 2020
Hi jasmeen

You can choose any subject of your choice based on your interest after your 12th dear for your graduation  as to be eligible for UPSC or the IAS examination there is no compulsion to be a graduate in a particular subject, all you need to be eligible is that you should be a graduate in any discipline

So you can choose any subject of your interest, but yes if you are interested in Arts then choosing BA i.e bachelor in Arts or the humanities can help in your UPSC Arts as in BA you will be studying subjects like history , polity etc which are a part of the UPSC syllabus so it will help you in your upsc examination.

Good luck dear for UPSC preparation

Thankyou

Best IAS + Degree Colleges in AP ?

pdwords Student Expert 8th Mar, 2020
Hello,

You just need to be 21 years old having completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. You can apply for UPSC even in final year. UPSC doesn't discriminate amidst aspirants belonging to different discipline, people from different backgrounds have cracked this exam and continue to do so, eventually it's the preparation and strategy that matters.

So, firstly choose any subject of your interest, you can also do so by pursuing subjects like political science, economics, geography, history etc as UPSC tends to be more humanties-oriented. However, even if you choose any other field like science, commerce, management, engineering you still can crack this exam as people from different backgrounds year after year continue to do so.

If you need to know about colleges in AP for graduation in any specific subject, kindly mention the same in the comment box.

Hello,

UPSC Civil Service Exam consists of three level-

Preliminary
Mains
Interview

Preliminary numbers are not added in the final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category. It mainly consists of GS Paper-I consists of the following topic such as History of India and Indian national movement, Indian and World geography, Economic and social development- sustainable development, poverty, inclusion demographics, social sector initiatives etc,Indian polity and governance-constitution,political system,Current Events nationally and Internationally,
General Science,General Issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change.

and CSAT includes topics such as basic numeracy, comprehension, logical reasoning and analytical ability, general mental ability, decision making and problem solving, interpersonal skills including communication skills. Both consists of 200 marks, MCQs based. Prelims is mcq based, but still it requires knowledge coupled with speed.

Mains is more of a subjective type, one needs to write answer for Four General Studies Paper(GS-I includes Indian Heritage and Culture,History and Geography of the World and Society, GS-II includes Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International Relations, GS-III includes Technology, Economic Development, Bio-Diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management, GS-IV includes Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude),Two Optionals, One Essay, two language paper, there are total nine papers here. 250 marks for each paper, total is 1750 marks  followed by Personality Test of 275 marks.

You can go through the gradual steps as mentioned below in order to start your preparation for UPSC:

Be well acquainted with UPSC Syllabus, learn it by heart, that's the most crucial step to crack this exam, to know what to read and what to skip. In addition to this, never ever make a differentiation between prelims and mains, what I mean is do not prepare separately for each, because nowadays what's happening is even in prelims, UPSC frame questions based on Mains syllabus, So, the first towards preparation shall be a combined preparation for both.

Read any newspaper like The Hindu, or Indian Express on a regular basis to be updated as well as gaining knowledge which shall be highly useful to you in future exam preparation part.

Start with basics, for each subject, you can do with NCERTs for this.

As you progress, move on to other relevant books, keep your resources minimum like Polity by Laxmikanth, History of Modern India by Bipin Chandra etc.

Start practicing answer writing in advance, even in a little way, writing mains is a huge task for nine paper, it requires immense practice along with knowledge.

Practice previous year question paper which you can get from the site of UPSC,in addition mock papers, and test series which you can get it from any of the sites extensively dedicated to UPSC, , it's highly important to evaluate your performance while doing so.

I want to do a government job but there is change in my mothers name in cbse 10 and 12 marksheet. In 10 certificate mother name is X Y but in 12 certificate is X rani Y. Can this create a problem for selection for government job like IAS or PCS?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 2nd Mar, 2020

In such situations, your mother needs to get an affidavit done stating that both the names belong to her. Once she gets an affidavit done, it has to be advertised in a local newspaper and a National newspaper. And from there on, there will be no issues. This certainly wont stop you from applying for Government jobs provided you meet the other eligibility criteria and the affidavit is in place.
