Question : Directions: If A denotes addition, B denotes multiplication, C denotes subtraction, and D denotes division, then what will be the value of the following equation:
27 B 3 C (11 A 3) A 14 B (100 D 10) = ?

Option 1: 207

Option 2: 117

Option 3: 221

Option 4: 111

Team Careers360 27th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 207

Solution : Given:
A denotes addition, B denotes multiplication, C denotes subtraction, and D denotes division
27 B 3 C (11 A 3) A 14 B (100 D 10) = ?

After replacing the letters with the mathematical signs, we get:
= 27 × 3 – (11 + 3) + 14 × (100 ÷ 10)
= 27 × 3 – 14 + 14 × 10
= 81 – 14 + 140
= 207

So, 207 is the answer to the given equation. Hence, the first option is correct.

B. The easy way may be to run a lawn-mower and the lawn looks fine for a while.
C. It is time consuming and painful, but the weeds will stay away for a longer time.
D. But the not-so-easy way may mean getting down on your knees and pulling out the weeds by the roots.

Option 1: ABCD

Option 2: ABDC

Option 3: ADBC

Option 4: ACDB

Team Careers360 27th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: ABDC

Solution : The correct answer is the second option.

Explanation: Sentence A introduces the main idea about two methods of weed removal. Sentence B expands on the easy way, suggesting the use of a lawnmower for weed removal. Sentence D contrasts with the easy way, introducing the not-so-easy way involving manual removal of weeds. Sentence C provides additional information about the not-so-easy way, emphasising its effectiveness despite being time-consuming and challenging.

Therefore, the correct answer is ABDC.

Question : Directions: In the following question, some parts of the sentence may have errors. Find out which part of the sentence has an error and select the appropriate option. If the sentence is free from error, select "No Error".

If you are a runner and bigger than 18 years, (1) / you can test your endurance level (2) / by running for the half Marathon. (3) / No Error (4)

Option 1: (1)

Option 2: (2)

Option 3: (3)

Option 4: (4)

Team Careers360 26th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: (1)

Solution : The error lies in the first part of the sentence.

When describing someone's age in a comparative manner, the correct adjective is older followed by than. In this case, the comparative form of the adjective big is incorrectly used to describe someone's age as "bigger than 18 years". It should be older than 18 years instead of bigger than 18 years.

Therefore, the correct sentence should be: If you are a runner and older than 18 years, you can test your endurance level by running for the Half Marathon.

Question : Which of the following folds are extreme types of overturned folds in which the axial plane acquires an almost horizontal attitude?

Option 1: Normal folds

Option 2: Asymmetrical folds

Option 3: Recumbent folds

Option 4: Square folds

Team Careers360 26th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: Recumbent folds

Solution : The correct answer is Recumbent folds.

Recumbent folds can be characterised as extreme forms of inverted folds where the axial plane becomes nearly horizontal. In these folds, one limb precisely rests beneath the other, allowing a drill hole made in the top limb to penetrate through the lower limb as well.

Question : Comprehension:

Read the given passage and answer the questions that follow.

Blue Pottery is widely recognised as a traditional craft of Jaipur, though it is Turko-Persian in origin. The name 'blue pottery' comes from the eye-catching cobalt blue dye used to colour the pottery. It is relatively unusual as a type of luxury Indian pottery as most Indian types are functional and though often highly decorated, relatively low prestige wares. Jaipur blue pottery is glazed and low-fired. No clay is used: the 'dough' for the pottery is prepared by mixing quartz stone powder, powdered glass, fuller's earth, borax, gum and water.

Some of this pottery is semi-transparent and mostly decorated with bird and animal motifs. Being fired at very low temperatures makes them fragile. The range of items is primarily decorative, such as vases, coasters, small bowls, and boxes for trinkets. The colour palette is restricted to blue derived from the cobalt oxide, green from the copper oxide and white, though other non-conventional colours, such as yellow and brown, are sometimes included. The use of blue glaze on pottery is an imported technique, first developed by artisans who combined Chinese glazing technology with Persian decorative arts. This technique travelled east to India with early Turkic conquests in the 14th century. During its infancy, it was used to make tiles to decorate mosques, tombs and palaces in Central Asia. Later, following their conquests and arrival in India, the Mughals began using them in India. Gradually the blue glaze technique grew beyond an architectural accessory to Indian potters. From there, the technique travelled to the plains of Delhi and in the 17th century went to Jaipur.

Other accounts of the craft state that blue pottery came to Jaipur in the early 19th century under the ruler Sawai Ram Singh II. The Jaipur king had sent local artisans to Delhi to be trained in the craft. However, by the 1950s, blue pottery had all but vanished from Jaipur, when it was re-introduced through the efforts of the muralist and painter Kripal Singh Shekhawat, with the support of patrons such as Kamladevi Chattopadhaya and Rajmata Gayatri Devi.

Question:

Which of the following are conventional colours used in blue pottery?

Option 1: Green and yellow

Option 2: Brown and white

Option 3: Yellow and brown

Option 4: Blue and green

Team Careers360 27th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: Blue and green

Solution : The correct choice is the fourth option.

In Jaipur blue pottery, the conventional colour palette is limited, focusing primarily on three colours:

  • Blue: Obtained from cobalt oxide, giving the pottery its characteristic blue hue.
  • Green: Achieved by using copper oxide.
  • White: Used as a base or additional colour.

These colours are traditional and commonly seen in blue pottery pieces.

Question : Directions: After 6 years, the sum of the years of service of P, Q, and R will be 56 years. Before 3 years, the sum of years of service of Q and R was 17 years. What is the current length of service of P?

Option 1: 17 years

Option 2: 15 years

Option 3: 11 years

Option 4: 12 years

Team Careers360 26th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 15 years

Solution : Let, the length of years of service of P = P years
The length of years of service of Q = Q years
The length of years of service of R = R years
⇒After 6 years, the sum of the years of service of P, Q, and R = (P + 6) + (Q + 6) + (R + 6) = 56
P + Q + R + 18 = 56
P + Q + R = 38 ----- (I)
⇒Before 3 years, the sum of years of service of Q and R = (Q – 3) + (R – 3) = 17
R + Q – 6 = 17
R + Q = 23 ----- (II)
From the equation (I) and (II) above,
P + 23 = 38
P = 15 years

Therefore, the current length of service of P is 15 years. Hence, the second option is correct.

Question : Directions: Study the given pattern carefully and select the number that can replace the question mark (?) in it.

3 45 36
4 ? 166
2 3 13

Option 1: 110

Option 2: 100

Option 3: 90

Option 4: 80

Team Careers360 27th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 90

Solution : The 4th root of the sum of the second and third numbers equals the first number –
Row I: 45 + 36 = 81; $\sqrt[4]{81}$ = 3
Row III: 3 + 13 = 16; $\sqrt[4]{16}$ = 2
Similarly, in Row II: 166 + X = 44
⇒ X = 256 – 166
⇒ X = 90

So, the missing number is 90. Hence, the third option is correct.
