Concept Related to Condition

When two trains or bodies are moving in the opposite direction

  • Relative speed to cover the distance would be the sum of both the speeds.

  • Distance to be covered to cross each other completely would be the sum of the lengths of trains.

When two trains or bodies are moving in the same direction

  • Relative speed to cover the distance would be the difference of both the speeds.

  • Distance to be covered to by faster train to cross slower train would be the sum of the lengths of trains.

When the train is crossing a stationary object (man, pole, tree, etc) which do not have any length

  • Distance to be covered by train to cross the object will be the length of the train.

When the train is crossing a stationary object (tunnel, bridge, etc) which have some length

  • Distance to be covered by train to cross the object will be the the sum length of the train and the object.

How to prepare problems on trains?

  • Before coming to this one, go through the chapter time speed distance in great detail.

  • Try to increase your imagination power by assuming the scenarios in the statements.

  • Mix up it with time speed distance, don't understand it a separate topic.

  • Practise it using diversified sources.
