OTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 - Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, Cuttack determines the OTET 2021 eligibility criteria for all aspiring candidates. The authorities prescribe the eligibility criteria of OTET on the basis of nationality, age, and education qualification. The eligibility criteria are determined for appearing in each of the two papers - paper I and II for which the OTET exam is conducted.
Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria before filling the OTET application form 2021. As per OTET eligibility criteria 2021, candidates must hold a graduation degree with at least 50% marks. Candidates failing to meet the OTET 2021 eligibility criteria at any later stage will be rejected from the selection process. As per the OTET exam pattern, the test was held for two papers - paper I and II wherein paper I is for those who wish to become teachers of classes 1 to 5 while paper II is for those who wish to become teachers of classes 6 to 8. OTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of OTET 2021 on the basis of the following factors:

  • Nationality

  • Age

  • Education Qualification

OTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 on the basis of Nationality

A candidate appearing for the eligibility test must be an Indian national.

OTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria on the basis of Age

The examination authorities have not determined any upper age limit for appearing in the exam. However, candidates must not be less than 21 years of age.

OTET Eligibility Criteria on the basis of Education Qualification

In order to be eligible to appear in the OTET exam, candidates must meet the eligibility criteria 2021 as per the paper for which candidates have to appear. OTET Eligibility criteria 2021 for appearing in each of the two papers - paper I and II have been mentioned below separately:

OTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria For Paper I

  • Must have passed Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) 50% or more marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (CT or D.El.Ed.)

or

  • Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002.

or

  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) passed with at least 50% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

or

  • Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

or

  • Graduation and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education

or

  • Graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from any NCTE Recognized Institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided shall undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of their appointment as a primary teacher.

OTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 For Paper II

  • Must be a Graduate with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education

or

  • Must hold a Graduation degree with at least 50% marks and one year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)

or

  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard

or

  • Must have passed Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks along with 4 years of Bachelors in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)

or

  • Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) passed with at least 50% marks and a 4 years B.A./ B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed

or

  • Must be a Graduate with at least 50% marks and one year B.Ed. (Special Education).

OTET Eligibility Criteria 2021 - Relaxation for reserved category

It must be noted that candidates belonging to the reserved categories have been given a relaxation of 5% in the minimum qualifying marks in Higher Secondary or graduation level.

OTET 2021 Eligibility Criteria – Important Points

  • Candidates holding a Special Education degree (D.Ed./B.Ed.) shall undergo a 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education recognized by NCTE after the appointment.

  • All those who are considered eligible by the State Govt./NCTE/Govt. of India from time to time.

  • A person having a degree or pursuing a final year of any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or by the RCI, as the case may be).

OTET Application Form 2021

The authorities released the OTET 2021 application form in online mode at its official website - bseodisha.ac.in on February 20, 2021. Candidates filled the application form along with the payment of the application fee till March 09, 2021. All candidates who successfully filled the application form will be issued the OTET admit card on March 31, 2021 (Tentatively). The filling of the application form includes the following steps:

  • Visit the official website

  • Click on the BSE Odisha OTET application form link

  • A login screen will open

  • Enter name, mobile number and email ID and click on Save & Next

  • Login and fill in all basic like address, category, etc.

  • Upload images of passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed size

  • Preview the OTET application form

  • Pay the application form fee and submit
