UPSC ESE Exam Pattern 2024: Stages
The UPSC ESE 2024 exam is conducted for engineering services under the central government. UPSC ESE 2024 exam will be conducted in the following three phases:
UPSC ESE Prelims (Phase 1)
UPSC ESE Mains (Phase 2) and
UPSC ESE Interview (Phase 3)
USPC ESE Prelims Exam Pattern 2024
The first stage of UPSC ESE 2024 recruitment is the prelims exam. As per the UPSC ESE 2024 exam pattern, there will be two papers. UPSC ESE 2024 Paper I will be based on general studies and engineering aptitude whereas the question of Paper II will be based on engineering discipline.
The total duration of the UPSC IES prelims exam will be 5 hours and students need to solve 100 questions (2 hours) and 150 multiple choice questions (3 hours) in Paper-1 and Paper-2 respectively. USSC IES Mains Exam Pattern 2024
As per the UPSC ESE 2024 exam pattern, the 2nd stage of the recruitment process is the main exam. The UPSC ESE 2024 main exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based). There will be two papers in the main stage. Candidates need to answer 5 out of 8 questions in both papers. As per the ESE mains exam pattern, the total duration of both the paper is six hours and the full marks will be 600. Candidates should keep in mind that the score obtained in the UPSC IES mains exam will be considered for the final selection list. Aspirants can check the ESE mains exam pattern from the below table.

UPSC ESE Exam Pattern 2024 for Interview
According to the UPSC IES exam pattern 2024, candidates shortlisted in the main stage are required to appear in the interview round for the final selection. The UPSC IES interview round is also known as the personality test. Candidates will be scored out of 200 marks.

As per the UPSC IES exam pattern, at the preliminary stage, candidates will be given two marks for each correct answer whereas one-third of marks will be reduced for the incorrect answers. At the UPSC ESE main stage, there will be descriptive-type questions and 60 marks will be given for each correct answer. There will be no negative marking. However, 5% of marks might be deducted for illegible handwriting.
UPSC ESE Syllabus 2024
As per the UPSC ESE 2024 syllabus, the Engineering Services Exam is divided into two sections - General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and Engineering Discipline. The UPSC ESE 2024 question paper will include questions from all of the topics from the syllabus, so the candidates should keep that in mind. UPSC ESE 2024 Paper I is generic for everyone whereas Paper two has been divided as per the engineering disciple which are Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), Civil Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

Eligibility criteria for IES or ESE are
Candidate must have received a degree in Engineering from a university integrated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or acknowledged as deemed to be universities under section-3 of the university grants commission act.
As NMIMS Mumbai is a private deemed university, you are eligible for this exam.
It came to be a deemed university organized under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.

No there is no information regarding the extension of ESE 2022 application date so no officials will not extend the dates for registration. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) closed the ESE application form 2022 in online mode on the official website upsc.gov.in. The UPSC ESE withdrawal window will be open from October 20, 2021 to October 26, 2021. The UPSC IES form 2022 has been released on September 22, 2021.The basic educational qualification required to be eligible for UPSC ESE exam is graduation in engineering.

Here are a few criteria for a candidate while he is appearing for the union public services examination-
1. Regarding the age criteria for a General candidate the minimum age limit for appearing in this examination is 21 years where as the upper age limit for an eligible Candidate is 35 years.
2. Secondly, the candidate must have a graduation degree from any recognised college irrespective of which stream in order to appear for the examinations.
3. A General candidate has a lifetime opportunity of of a total of 6 attempts to appear in these examinations.

IES or ESE is engineering service exam, hence as per the norms laid out by UPSC, candidates need to pass degree or diploma in engineering from a recognized university, other than this some of the other fulfilling eligibility criteria are as follows;
Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India)
Passed Associate Membership exam which is parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India
Passed Graduate Membership test of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959.
For applying in Indian Radio Regulatory Service or Indian Naval Armament Service a postgraduate degree or equivalent in Wireless Communication Electronics/ Radio Physics/Radio Engineering as a special subject, Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication /Electronics /Telecommunication as a special subject is also applicable for India Radio Regulatory Service.
