Candidates who apply for the UPSC ESE examination must fulfil any of the below given Nationality eligibility. The applicants must be either
A citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a subject of Bhutan, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, the United Republic of Tanzania, Sri Lanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam country and settled permanently in India.
a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962 settled permanently in India, or

Applicants who wish to appear in the ESE exam should note that there is no such rule regarding the number of attempts like the UPSC IAS exam. The only restriction to apply for the exam is calculated on the basis of age limit, which is discussed below.

ESE 2021 Educational Qualification
After knowing the number of attempts, nationality and age limit one should also know the education qualification parameters before applying for the UPSC ESE 2021. The description of qualifications are mentioned below.
A degree in Engineering from any Central or State University or any other Educational Institutions established by either an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities or UGC.
A degree/diploma in the Engineering from any foreign University/College/Institution and recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or
Aspirants must pass Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).
Passed Associate Membership exam which is parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or
Passed Graduate Membership test of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959.
Candidates who apply for the Indian Radio Regulatory Service must have M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject or Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication or Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.
Applicants who wish to apply for Indian Naval Armament Service must have either M.Sc.degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
UPSC ESE 2021 Eligibility - Medical Standard
Everyone has to undergo a medical test irrespective of their reservation.
Applicants should note that the medical exam will only be conducted at the various Railway hospitals only.
The commission will upload the Medical examination schedule, venue and final status of candidate on the official website of Indian Railways after ESE Result.
Three sets form for the Medical Board Report, by downloading it from the official website of Railways.
Along with this, candidates must carry a valid prescribed government issued Photo ID card and three passport size photographs along with them.
Candidates who belong to PwD category must carry their original copy of their Disability Certificate as per the format prescribed along with the photocopy of the same.
Aspirants who are not found fit will be disqualified from the further recruitment process of Engineering services.
ESE Eligibility Criteria - Medical Examination
All the candidates who qualify the exam will further have to appear in the medical examination. If any candidate is declared qualified or disqualified in the previous year exam still they have to appear for this stage of the selection process. The medical examination will be held at various railway hospitals. The procedure is mentioned below :
Step 1: Visit official website of railway - indianrailways.gov.in
Step 2: Applicants have to download three sets of forms for the Medical Board Report from there.
Step 3: While visiting the hospital you must carry a government-issued valid photo ID card along with three passport size photographs.
Step 4: Candidates who are from pwd category are required to carry their certificates.
Step 5: Those are medically fit will be declared qualified, rest will be rejected.
