UPSC ESE Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Educational Qualification

The basic UPSC ESE 2025 educational qualifications that a candidate must have to be eligible for the examination is a bachelor's degree in engineering. The degree must be from a recognised university/ college as per the law i.e. state or centre. For more details on the IES educational qualifications check the tables below:

A degree/diploma in Engineering from any foreign University/College/Institution and recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time, or


Aspirants must pass the Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India).


Passed Associate Membership exam which is parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India; or


Passed Graduate Membership test of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November 1959.

For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts)

M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

For Indian Radio Regulatory Service (Group ‘A’) Posts

M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject, or


Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication or Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.

Note: Candidates awaiting their final engineering result can also apply for the Indian Engineering Services exam. There is no minimum cutoff percentage required to apply for the exam.

UPSC ESE Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Medical Standard

Candidates wanting to get recruited through the UPSC ESE 2025 exam must clear all the stages of the selection process. Applicants appearing for the Indian Engineering Services exam must be physically and mentally fit and sound. After the IES personality test, shortlisted candidates will have to undergo several medical examinations at the medical centre as notified by the Commission at various Railway hospitals across the country. They will have to pass all the medical tests to get hired by the UPSC in the Indian Engineering Services. Key points to know for IES medical exam eligibility.

  • All shortlisted candidates have to undergo a medical test irrespective of their reservation.

  • The medical examination will only be conducted at different Railway hospital medical centres across the country.

  • Candidates need to carry three sets forms for the Medical Board Report, it can be downloaded from the official website of Railways.

Eligibility criteria for IES or ESE are

Candidate must have received a degree in Engineering from a university integrated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or acknowledged as deemed to be universities under section-3 of the university grants commission act.

As NMIMS Mumbai is a private deemed university, you are eligible for this exam.

It came to be a deemed university organized under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.

No there is no information regarding the extension of ESE 2022 application date so no officials will not extend the dates for registration. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) closed the ESE application form 2022 in online mode on the official website upsc.gov.in. The UPSC ESE withdrawal window will be open from October 20, 2021 to October 26, 2021. The UPSC IES form 2022 has been released on September 22, 2021.The basic educational qualification required to be eligible for UPSC ESE exam is graduation in engineering.

Here are a few criteria for a candidate while he is appearing for the union public services examination-

1. Regarding the age criteria for a General candidate the minimum age limit for appearing in this examination is 21 years where as the upper age limit for an eligible Candidate is 35 years.

2. Secondly, the candidate must have a graduation degree from any recognised college irrespective of which stream in order to appear for the examinations.

3. A General candidate has a lifetime opportunity of of a total of 6 attempts to appear in these examinations.
