Both the exam pattern and syllabus are prescribed by the examination authority, Staff Selection Commission. According to SSC MTS exam pattern 2019, the paper will be conducted in computer based mode comprising of four sections-General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Aptitude, General English and General Awareness. The test carries 100 marks. The Paper II of SSC MTS which carries 50 marks is a descriptive type test that access a candidates writing ability. SSC MTS syllabus consists of topics that are of Class 12/matriculation level.

In this section, candidates should study one-word substitution, idioms and phrases, synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks (sentence completion), sentence errors, reading comprehension, sentence rearrangement and jumbled-up sentences. Often vocabulary based questions are repeated from previous years’ papers. So, practice previous years’ question papers. To solve sentence error spotting questions, knowledge of grammatical rules is essential.
