The full form of NDA is National Defence Academy. It is commonly known as NDA by many. The NDA exam is conducted by UPSC to recruit class 12th passed students to defence services.
National Defence Academy (NDA) is an institute of global excellence in the field of military education. To get the most capable candidate admitted to NDA, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the NDA exam twice a year. This exam is usually conducted in April (NDA I), and in September (NDA II). Male candidates who have qualified for 12th can only apply for this exam.
Through NDA I and NDA II, UPSC seeks to fill up officer-level vacancies in Army, Navy and Air Force. Naval Academy vacancies are also filled up through the NDA exam. The most important stage in the selection process of NDA is the 5-day rigorous test which is conducted in order to choose the best candidate. During these 5 days, candidates are tested on various grounds including their speed, intelligence, presence of mind, and psychological and physical fitness.

UPSC declared the result of NDA 2 2024 on September 20 at upsc.gov.in. The NDA result 2024 was declared in online mode in PDF format and comprises of the roll numbers and names of all the qualified candidates. On the basis of the UPSC NDA result 2024, candidates are selected for the SSB Interview. After which, UPSC will prepare the final merit list.
The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the written exam as well as the SSB Interview. Final admission will be offered to candidates on the basis of their rank as per the merit list. UPSC also releases the scorecard of the NDA 2024 exam on its official website within 15 days from the date of the announcement of the final NDA exam result date 2024. The NDA 2024 scorecard will be available to download for a period of 30 days.

UPSC closed the NDA 2 application form correction window on June 11, 2024. The NDA 2 application correction window was opened on on June 5, 2024. The NDA 2 application form 2024 last date was on June 4, 2024. The NDA 2 2024 application form was released on May 15, 2024. Eligible candidates can fill out the NDA 2 2024 application form in two parts. In part I, they have to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) for the UPSC NDA exam 2024 by filling in the basic information. In part II, they have to log in and proceed to fill out the NDA form 2024 and pay the examination fees.
Candidates can edit details in the application form within the prescribed NDA 2024 registration date. The NDA 2024 registration fee for general category candidates is Rs. 100 while SC/ ST candidates, Sons of JCOs, NCOs and ORs are exempted from paying the fee for the NDA form 2024 .
UPSC prescribed the NDA syllabus for all aspirants and mentions it in the official notification. The NDA exam syllabus contains topics and sub-topics on which the question paper will be based. Along with the syllabus, it is also advised to the candidates to know about the NDA exam pattern 2024. The exam pattern consists of the stages of the exam, time duration and marking scheme etc. UPSC NDA exam is conducted in pen and paper mode. The NDA exam carries two NDA paper 2024, Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The duration of each test is 2 hours and 30 minutes. The Mathematics paper carries a total of 120 questions while the GAT paper has 150 questions.
The maximum mark allotted to the written exam is 900. As per the marking scheme, candidates with correct answers in mathematics will score 2.5 marks. For the correct answer in GAT, candidates will score 4 marks. For the wrong answer, 1/3 of the marks assigned to that particular question will be deducted as a penalty. The SSB Interview will be conducted for 900 marks.

To download the NDA 2024 admit card, aspirants have to either use their registration number or roll number on the official website.
The UPSC NDA 2024 admit card carries information such as the candidate’s name, exam centre details, date, NDA exam time 2024, roll number, category, photograph, signature and exam day guidelines etc. Candidates must carry their admit card to the examination centre along with one of the prescribed photo ID proofs - an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, PAN Card, or Passport.

UPSC releases the official NDA answer key 2024 after the declaration of the final result. However, major coaching institutes release unofficial NDA 2024 answer keys within a few hours from the conclusion of the exam.
Candidates will be able to download the UPSC NDA answer key for all sets of subjects, including Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Using UPSC NDA answer keys, they will be able to check correct answers to each question asked in the exam and calculate their marks as well as spectate their chances of qualification.

The NDA 2024 cut off is the minimum qualifying mark that candidates need to score in order to qualify for the exam. NDA 2024 cut off is applicable for the written exams and SSB Interviews. UPSC releases the NDA 2024 cut off for the written exam and final selection. NDA cut off 2024 for written examination will be calculated out of 900 marks.
Based on UPSC NDA 2024 cut off of written examination, candidates will be selected for SSB Interviews. UPSC will decide the final cut off out of 1800 marks (900 for the written exam and 900 for SSB Interview). The final merit list of NDA will be prepared on the basis of the final cutoff. Candidates can check previous years’ cut off.
As per the NDA selection process 2024, there are two stages in the exam - the written exam and Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview. All those who qualify in the UPSC NDA written exam will only be able to appear for the SSB interview, the SSB will be conducted over a course of 5 or 7 days.
Written Exam- Candidates who successfully submit their application and are issued the admit card will be able to appear for the written exam. The written exam will be held for two papers -Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The written test carries a total of 900 marks. Candidates who score marks equal to or more than the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam will be called for the SSB Interview.
NDA 2024 SSB Interview - The SSB Interview is conducted to test the intelligence and personality of the candidates. The process is broadly scheduled for 5 days. During these days, the selected candidates are subject to various tests to examine their further competencies. These five days include Testing, Psychological Test, Group Testing Officers Test, Personal Interview and the Conference round.
SSB interview includes Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test which is Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT) whereas stage II includes Interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. Candidates who get admitted to the National Defence Academy (NDA) are entitled to remuneration during the training period as well. Cadets are entitled to a stipend of Rs. 21,000 p.m. during the training period at Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Officers Training Academy (OTA). There are conditions applied with respect to Tattoos. Permanent body tattoos are permitted only on the inner face of forearms i.e. from inside of the elbow to the wrist of both the hands and reverse side of the palm/back (dorsal) side of both hands. Though, there are no restrictions on the size or type of tattoo that have been specified. However, it is advised to not have a tattoo till you clear the exam, unless you are from a tribe or follow a custom that mandatorily required you to have a tattoo.
If you qualify for NDA, you will get a stipend of Rs. 21,000 per month during your training period. However, the salaries of NDA Officers after training (Lieutenant) will be Rs. 15,600 – Rs 39,100 p.m (basic), grade pay of Rs. 500 p. m. and military fund of Rs. 6,000 p.m.
In case you belong to the SC/ST category or a ward of NCOs/JCOs/Ors you will not have to pay any application fee. However, candidates belonging to the general category have to pay Rs. 100 as the NDA application fee.
Male candidates between the age group of 16 to 19 years can apply for the NDA exam. They must have passed Class 10+2 as well.
The question paper is mostly based on the CBSE board and NCERT is more than sufficient for NDA. However, they must also read supplementary books, question banks etc for NDA preparation.
Yes, Mathematics is necessary for the UPSC NDA exam and the difficulty level of maths will be 10+2 level. Maths is mandatory for candidates who apply for NDA Air Force and Navy courses.

Candidates must be between the ages of January 2, 2006, and January 1, 2008, according to the NDA 2 age limit.
