About RRB ALP & Technician 2024

Railway Recruitment Board will release the RRB ALP admit card 2024 soon online on the respective regional websites. The RRB ALP 2024 application form correction window was closed on February 29, 2024. The RRB activated the RRB ALP application form correction window on February 20, 2024.  The RRB ALP application form was closed on February 19, 2024. RRB opened the RRB ALP Application form 2024 online on January 20, 2024. RRB released the RRB ALP 2024 Notification online on the regional RRB websites on January 19, 2024. The RRB ALP CBT exam will be held in June or August 2024.

RRB ALP & Technician

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) is conducting RRB ALP examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) & Technician. As many as 5696 vacancies have been announced under RRB ALP & Technician recruitment exam. The  exam is conducted in four stages - First Stage, Second Stage, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification. Candidates who qualified the first stage appeared in the second stage. Based on candidate’s performance in second stage, candidates for ALP posts will be selected for CBAT while candidates of Technician posts, will be shortlisted for document verification.

ALP Posts - Matriculation/SSLC and ITI from recognised NCVT/SCVT or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) or 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile Engineering


Technician Posts - Candidates who have passed matriculation/SSLC and ITI from NCVT/SCVT were eligible for the recruitment exam

RRB ALP & Technician Application Form 2024

RRB deactivated the RRB ALP 2024 application form correction window on February 29, 2024. The ALP application form correction window was opened on February 20, 2024. RRB activated the RRB ALP application form 2024 online from January 20 to February 19, 2024. The application form of RRB ALP & Technician can be accepted in online mode only for the recruitment exam. The application form comprised two parts. The procedure of filling both the parts of application form is explained below.

RRB ALP & Technician Application Form 2024- Part I

  • Applicants are required to enter details like name, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar number, state, community, SSLC/matric roll number, year of passing SSLC/matric, mobile number and email-id to register for the exam.

  • After registration, candidates were provided registration number and password.

  • In part I of RRB ALP & Technician Application Form 2024, candidates are also required to provide details of their educational qualification, community, gender, religion, ex-servicemen, PWD, minority, economically backward class, age relaxation eligibility category and other details.

  • On completion of application details, candidates are directed to the payment page.

  • In the Part II application page, candidates had to enter detailed educational qualification, choice of exam language for first and second stage.

  • Upload photograph and signature as per dimension.

RRB ALP & Technician First Stage CBT Exam Pattern

  • The first stage of RRB ALP was held online.

  • The test carried 75 objective type questions.

  • Duration of the test was 60 minutes

  • The first stage as per RRB ALP exam pattern carried 75 marks.

  • Each question carried 1 marks.

  • There was negative marking for wrong answers. marks were deducted for wrong answers.

  • Total marks allotted for first stage were 75

RRB ALP & Technician Second Stage CBT Exam Pattern

  • The second stage as per RRB ALP exam pattern consists of two Parts A and B.

  • Part A of RRB ALP & Technician 2024 will carry 100 questions.

  • There will be 75 questions in Part B.

  • The duration of Part A will be 90 minutes while Part B will be held for 1 hour.

  • There is no negative marking in CBAT.

  • The test is spread over in five test batteries.

The mock test of RRB ALP is released for candidates to understand the functioning of an online test before the actual exam. To attempt RRB ALP mock test 2024, candidates have to login with their user ID and password. The mock test carried comprised of 100 questions which candidates had to answer within 60 minutes. Mock test helps candidates to improve their question-solving ability and time-management skills. It is important that candidates should analyse their performance in mock test and work on the weak areas.

RRB ALP & Technician Admit Card 2024

The admit card of RRB ALP & Technician is released in four stages - first stage, second stage, CBAT and document verification. RRB ALP & Technician admit card 2024 is issued four days prior the date of candidate’s exam. To download RRB ALP & Technician admit card/hall ticket online, candidates are required to enter user ID and password. Details like candidate’s name, roll number, registration number, photograph, signature, shift, date, reporting time, address of exam centre and important instructions are mentioned in the admit card. The hard copy of RRB ALP & Technician admit card 2024 is not sent to candidates by post. Candidates have to bring the admit card along with photo-identity proof to the examination centre while appearing for the exam. RRB ALP admit card has two parts - one is candidate’s copy while other is RRB copy which will be retained by the invigilator during verification.

RRB ALP admit card 2024 for first stage will be available in online mode. The admit card will be issued to candidates who had successfully registered for the exam.

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) will release the admit card of RRB ALP for second stage rescheduled exam. RRB ALP admit card will be issued online. To download the admit card, candidates had to enter their user ID and password.

The admit card for this stage will be issued to candidates qualifying the second stage exam by securing the prescribed cutoff marks.

RRB ALP & Technician 2024 Answer Key

RRB ALP & Technician First Stage CBT Answer Key

The provisional answer key of RRB ALP of first stage will be available in online mode. Candidates will be able to download answer key, answer key and raise objections by logging with their registration number and date of birth. Using RRB ALP answer key, candidates could check the correct answers to questions asked in the exam. The answer key also contained the responses marked by candidates along with the question IDs. While checking RRB ALP answer key, candidates could raise objection against the answer key in case of incorrect answers. The objection raised by candidates will be examined by experts. Valid objections have been considered for correction and the examination authority will publish the final answer key.

RRB ALP & Technician Second Stage CBT Answer Key

The provisional answer key of RRB ALP second stage CBT will be released in online. The commission will also release the question paper along with the answer key. The answer key contains the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. The correct answers of RRB ALP second stage have been marked with a green tick. Along with the correct answers the answer key also contains the status of question and answer chosen by candidates on the right side. In case of any discrepancy in the answer key, candidates can challenge the answer key online. The final answer key of RRB ALP second stage will be released if the objections are found to be correct by experts.

According to RRB ALP exam analysis of first stage, the overall difficulty level of all slots were moderate to difficult. As per the feedback given by candidates, the reasoning section was easy while Mathematics was lengthy and calculative. RRB ALP exam analysis provides details regarding the section-wise and overall difficulty, weightage of topics, questions asked in the exam and distribution of questions.

The result of RRB ALP 2024 will be declared in four stages – first stage, second stage, CBAT and final selection. First, RRBs will declare the RRB ALP & Technician result of first stage which will be followed by the declaration of result for second stage, CBAT and final selection. The result of all the stages will be available online region-wise. The roll numbers of candidates will be made available in PDF format.

On the basis of marks secured by candidates in the first stage and post preference, they have been selected for second stage. The score of first stage is calculated out of 75 marks. To arrive at the corrected score, the marks of candidates has been normalised. Candidates will be selected for second stage CBT based on the normalised marks.

RRB ALP & Technician Second Stage CBT Result

The result of RRB ALP second stage will be declared in online mode. Candidates who have qualified both parts of the second stage. However, only the marks scored in Part A is considered to select candidates for next round of selection process. As the this stage is conducted in multiple shifts, the marks of candidates is normalised to declare the result. The qualifying marks of RRB ALP Part B of second stage is 35 % across all categories.

RRB ALP & Technician CBAT Result

To qualify CBAT stage, candidates  have to secure qualifying marks in each of the test batteries. Based on RRB ALP result of CBAT, candidates for ALP posts are selected for document verification.

The cutoff of RRB ALP is the minimum qualifying marks that candidates have to secure to qualify the exam and become eligible for next round of selection. RRB ALP & Technician cut off will be released in four stages - first stage, second stage, CBAT and final allotment. There are two types of RRB ALP cut off - qualifying and overall. Candidates will have to secure both the cutoffs to qualify the exam.

RRB ALP & Technician 2024 Selection Process

RRB ALP Selection Process 2024

The selection procedure of RRB ALP 2024comprises four stages – first Stage CBT, second Stage CBT, computer based aptitude test and document verification. The stage-wise RRB ALP selection procedure 2024 is explained below.

First Stage - The first stage has been conducted only to shortlist candidates for second stage. The marks obtained by candidates in this stage will not be considered for the final merit list. Candidates 15 times the number of vacancies will be selected for second stage.

Second Stage- The marks scored in part A of second stage will only be considered to shortlist candidates for further stages of recruitment process provided candidates qualify part B. The part B of RRB ALP second stage is qualifying in nature.

Computer Based Aptitude Test - This stage is conducted only for ALP posts. Candidates equal to 8 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for this stage based on their performance in Part A of second stage. The merit list for ALP will be prepared from amongst the candidates qualifying the aptitude test. The examination authority will give 70% weightage to the marks obtained in Part A of second stage and 30 % weightage to the marks obtained in CBAT.

Document Verification - Candidates will be shortlisted for document verification based on their score of Part A of Second Stage. However for ALP posts, the examination authority will also consider the score of CBAT to shortlist candidates for document verification.

Documents Required at Counselling

  • Matriculation/ high school examination certificate or equivalent certificate as proof for date of birth and matriculation qualification
  • 10 +2 /inter / higher secondary/ PUC (as applicable)
  • NCVT/ SCVT/ diploma/ engineering degree certificate with semester wise mark sheets (as applicable)
  • SC/ ST certificate as per format
  • OBC-NCL certificate as per format
  • Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) declaration for OBC candidates
  • Income certificate for waiving examination fee for economically backward classes
  • Original discharge certificate for ex-serviceman
  • Photocopy of both sides of Aadhaar card
  • Medical certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PWD)
  • NOC from serving employees with date of appointment
  • NOC from serving defence personnel with probable date of discharge
  • Minority community declaration on non-judicial stamp paper
  • Gazette notification and/ or any legal document in case of formal change of name
  • Receipt of payment if made through a challan at SBI branch or pay-in-slip at computerized post office
  • Self-certification by transgender candidates
  • J&K domicile certificate
  • Certificate of eligibility from Government of India
  • Decree of divorce/judicial separation from the competent court of law as applicable and affidavit stating that the candidate has not remarried
  • Death certificate of spouse in case of widow candidate and affidavit stating that the candidate has not remarried
