The exam conducting authorities provide the UGC NET exam day guidelines 2025 in the information brochure on the official website. UGC NET exam day guidelines will also be prescribed in the admit card. Applicants must follow the UGC NET exam day guidelines at exam centres. Some of the UGC NET guidelines for the UGC NET exam are given below:

  • Candidates appearing for the exam are advised to reach their exam centre at least one hour before the entry starts.

  • It is a must to carry your UGC NET admit card on the day of the exam. Students must note that no candidate will be allowed to get entry inside the examination hall without producing their admit card. Along with the admit card, candidates must also carry a valid Photo Identity proof for verification purposes.

UGC NET Exam Day Guidelines 2025 - Reporting Time

As per the UGC NET exam day guidelines, they should follow the timing.

  • Applicants will not be allowed inside the examination center after 8.30 am in the first shift and 2.30 pm in the second shift.

  • Candidates should reach the examination hall at the examination centers at 8.45 am in the first shift and 2.45 pm in the second shift.

Students must note that the admit card is a mandatory document that every student needs to carry to get entry into the exam hall. A six month preparation window is ideal for CSIR UGC NET, especially if you follow a structured plan. Below is a month wise breakdown of how you can prepare effectively, balancing core subjects, General Aptitude, revision, mock tests , and research paper reading .

In the first three months , focus on completing the full syllabus, spending most of your time on core subjects and 1 day a week on General Aptitude. Also, begin reading 1 to 2 research papers weekly.

In month 4 , start your first full revision, practice topic-wise questions, and begin attempting small mock tests.

In month 5 , do your second revision and shift to full-length mock tests (2 per week) while analyzing mistakes.

In month 6 , do a final quick revision, increase mock tests to 3 to 4 per week, and avoid starting new topics.

Overall, spend around 60 to 70% of your time on subject preparation , 15 to 20% on revision , and 10 to 15% on mock tests and paper solving , increasing test practice in the last two months.
