SSC CHSL 2016SSC CHSL 2016 - Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) 2016 exam in 3 stages - Tier 1 (Computer Based Test), Tier 2 (Descriptive Test) and Tier 3 (Typing/Skill Test). SSC CHSL 2016 Tier 1 exam was conducted from January 7 to February 8, 2017, in online mode for 64,09,965 registered candidates. SSC CHSL 2016 Tier 2 exam will be conducted on July 9, 2017. Earlier, Tier II exam of CHSL was scheduled to be conducted on June 25, 2017. SSC CHSL 2016 is conducted for recruitment of approximately 5134 postal assistants/sorting assistants, data entry operators, lower divisional clerks and court clerks in various Ministries / Departments / Organisations. SSC CHSL 2016 will be conducted in a computer based mode as per the exam pattern as prescribed by the examination authority SSC. The selection of candidates for the posts of lower divisional clerks will be determined on the basis of the total score obtained in SSC CHSL 2016 Tier 1 and 2. SSC CHSL 2016 Result


The result of SSC CHSL 2016 has been announced on June 1, 2017 for Tier I exam, only for those candidates who have secured qualifying marks as per their category. The SSC CHSL Result 2016 has been announced for candidates who secure subject wise as well as overall cut off score. As many as 53,201 qualified candidates of SSC CHSL Tier I examination have been shortlisted for next round of selection i,e Tier II exam of SSC CHSL which is scheduled to be conducted on July 9, which is a descriptive paper. Candidates qualifying Tier I and Tier II exam will be shortlisted for the skill test/typing test on the basis of their performance in SSC CHSL 2016. Candidates who qualify in the skill test/typing test will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of their performance in the written examination.


SSC CHSL 2016 Cut off


Candidates have to secure the cut off score as per their category to qualify the entrance exam. The exam conducting body has released SSSC CHSL cut off score at the time announcement of result on June 1, 2017. The cut off score is the minimum qualifying marks which must be secured by candidates in order to become eligible for next stage of selection procedure. There is sectional cutoff, category-wise cutoff and the overall cutoff for SSC CHSL 2016. 


SSC CHSL 2016 Answer Key


The answer key of SSC CHSL 2016 was available from March 15. With the help of the answer key of SSC CHSL 2016, candidates can know the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. They can compare the right answers available in the answer key with the answers they marked in the exam and basis that they can expect their score. 


SSC CHSL 2016 Exam Pattern


The SSC CHSL 2016 Tier II is a computer-based test to be conducted on July 9. The online question booklet of SSC CHSL 2016 will be 100 questions of 2 marks each. The SSC CHSL 2016 question paper have 25 multiple choice questions (MCQs) each from general intelligence, English language, quantitative aptitude and general awareness. There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer. Candidates who will qualify the SSC CHSL 2016 exam will have to appear for the descriptive test. The SSC CHSL 2016 Tier II will be qualifying in nature and it would test a candidate’s skills pertaining to the post applied. Candidates can detail of SSC CHSL exam pattern 2016 like number of question, subjects, marks etc. from the table given below.


SSC CHSL Exam Pattern: Tier 2 


Type of questions - Descriptive questions based on essay writing, letters applications and precis writing 

Total Marks - 100 marks for all questions 

Test Duration - one hour (1 hour 20 minutes for VH, Cerebral Palsy candidates or Orthopedically Handicapped candidates)

Test Medium - English or Hindi

Qualifying Marks - minimum 33% marks 

SSC CHSL 2016 Admit Card


The examination authority has issued SSC CHSL 2016 admit card for Tier 2 exam. Candidates who have qualified Tier I exam for the SSC CHSL 2016 can download their admit card by entering their login details. Also, it must be noted that SSC will not send admit card to any candidate by post or any other means. The SSC CHSL admit card 2016 carries information like candidate’s name, date of birth, exam centre address and exam day guidelines, etc. Moreover, SSC issues separate admit card to Tier I qualified candidates for appearing in SSC CHSL Tier II 2016 exam in online mode only. 


SSC CHSL 2016 Eligibility


Candidates, applying for SSC CHSL 2016 must fulfil the eligibility criteria of as given below:



  • Candidates applying for SSC CHSL 2016 must be citizen of India

  • Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan and Tibetan refugee are also eligible but only after subject to fulfilment  eligibility criteria as the rule of Government of India

Age Limit:

  • Candidates must be a minimum of 18 and maximum of 27 years as on January 01, 2017

  • Candidates born not before 02 January, 1990 and not later than 01 January, 1999

  • Upper age limit has been relaxed to candidates for some categories

Educational qualification:

  • Must have passed HSCL/HSC/10+2 Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University

SSC CHSL 2016 Application Form


The Application Form of SSC CHSL 2016 was available from October 8, 2016. The SSC CHSL Application form 2016 could be filled in online mode. Candidates were advised to read the application procedure carefully before applying for SSC CHSL 2016 because any misinformation was lead to cancellation of candidature. While applying online candidates had to upload scanned images of passport size photograph and signature and pay the requisite application fee online through electronic payment gateway. The cost of SSC CHSL 2016 application was Rs. 100 which could be paid either through bank challan or through net banking/credit/debit card.
