What is CTET?

Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the CTET 2024 in offline mode. CTET is a national-level Central Teacher Eligibility Test.  CBSE holds the CTET exam in two shifts wherein candidates have the option to appear in paper 1 or paper 2 or both papers. CBSE conducts two papers – Paper – I for the primary stage (class- I to V) and Paper – II for the elementary stage (class- VI to VIII).

Each of the two papers has 150 questions for 150 marks. The CTET examination is conducted with the aim to assess the less factual knowledge of the candidate and more of conceptual understanding, application, problem-solving, reasoning, and critical thinking.

The questions asked in the CTET exam focus on evaluating the candidates' understanding of teaching the subject, and whether the candidate has pedagogic content knowledge. The other aspect that will be taken into account to evaluate the candidate is the knowledge relevance of the subject in the school curriculum as well as other aspects of teaching the subject such as pedagogic content knowledge which will comprise questions assessing planning of teaching-learning experiences, strategies for developing conceptual clarity, usage of teaching-learning aids, and assessment methodologies specific to the concept.

Candidates who qualify for the CTET exam will be given TET Eligibility Certificate and they will be eligible to apply in schools under the Central Government, unaided private schools, and schools under the administrative control of Union Territories.

All the candidates who wish to appear for CTET must go through the exam pattern and syllabus for better preparation. This competition exam is quite tough so candidates have to prepare in advance so to develop good command over the fundamentals of paper selected. Some important tips for preparation of CTET are:

  • Candidates must solve previous years' question papers. This will help them in knowing the exam well and also help them to finish the exam in the given time.
  • They must start preparation with the easiest portion. Also, they should divide their time equally between all the sections.
  • Do not start any new topic at the last moment. That will only create confusion.
  • Make a proper routine and follow that strictly.
  • In the end, stay confident and positive.

I have done Hindi pandit course. Am I eligible for ctet 2024?

Nitin Kumar 22nd Apr, 2024

No, completing a Hindi Pandit course alone wouldn't make you eligible for the CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) 2024. To be eligible for CTET, you typically need to have a Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed.) or be in the final year of a B.Ed. program.

  • Candidates must have a B.Ed. degree with Hindi as one of the school subjects in the B.Ed. program.
  • Candidates must have a B.Ed. degree and a graduation degree (like B.A. or B.Sc.) with Hindi as a major subject.

I did Bsc(IT)from a recognised university and after that i have done B.ed in chemistry and biology stream....as chemistry method is granted by college itself .....it will be beneficial if i clear ctet?

Nitin Kumar 25th Apr, 2024

Yes, clearing CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) would be beneficial for you, even though you have a B.Sc. (IT) and a B.Ed. in Chemistry and Biology with a method qualification from your college for Chemistry.

CTET is a mandatory requirement for applying to most government teaching jobs at the central and state levels .Many private schools also prefer candidates with CTET certification.Clearing CTET opens doors to a wider range of teaching opportunities in schools across India, not just for Chemistry and Biology but potentially for IT subjects at the higher secondary level .

I have done M.com and B.Ed with accounts and commerce methods. i have cleared ctet paper II with Social Science subject. am i eligible for Tgt post for social science subject ?

Nitin Kumar 25th Apr, 2024

Yes, you are eligible for the TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) post for the Social Science subject with your qualifications. The minimum qualification for TGT posts typically requires a graduation degree with at least 50% marks in the relevant subject and a B.Ed. degree. You have an M.Com which fulfills the graduation requirement. While your B.Ed. is in Accounts and Commerce methods, having cleared the CTET Paper II in Social Science demonstrates your eligibility to teach the subject.

CTET acts as a national eligibility test for teachers. Clearing CTET with Social Science in Paper II specifically qualifies you to teach that subject at the TGT level.

Can I choose a different exam centre for my CTET exam? I am from Assam, so my language 1 will be Assamese. And during the exam, I would be in Delhi. So my exam centre will also be Delhi. So is it okay, if I choose my language 1 as Assamese with my centre as Delhi?

Nitin Kumar 25th Apr, 2024

No, it might not be possible to choose a different exam center for your CTET exam and have Assamese as your Language 1 if your exam center is in Delhi. CTET exam centers typically offer specific language options based on their location.
Since your exam center is likely to be in Delhi, the available languages might not include Assamese.
