The first stage of the SSC JE selection process has one paper having three sections. It is conducted in online mode by the exam conducting authorities. The second stage of the SSC JE selection process also has one paper. It is conducted in offline mode by the Staff Selection Commission. SSC JE Paper 2 is of 300 marks with no negative marking. The duration of the JE paper is 2 hours. Questions in this paper are asked from subjects like - civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. Candidates have to appear for the paper in whichever stream they have applied for. Candidates qualifying for the SSC JE paper 1 and 2 cutoff marks are eligible to appear for the SSC Junior Engineer document verification stage. At this stage of the SSC JE selection, process candidates will have to furnish all the relevant documents as asked by the authorities. The education qualification requirements for SSC Junior Engineer is different for each post. As per the SSC JE 2022 Eligibility criteria the candidates who have passed 4 year B. Tech in Civil Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering and 3 year Diploma in Civil Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering are eligible to apply for various posts which will be specified in the SSC JE Notification. As you have graduated or pursuing Electronics and Communication Engineering you are not eligible to apply for SSC JE. there is gap of 2years after 10th and before polytechnic . however, can i take ssc je exam ?

There is not a matter whether you have taken any gap or not, you will be always eligible for any type of exams and admission.
As you are thinking to give the SSC JE exam so there also they don't care if you have taken a gap year or not. They might ask you during the interview these type of question but still that is not a big deal, you can simply explain your problem.
