UPPSC Result 2018 – The result of UPPSC Preliminary examination will be announced by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) in February 2019. UPPSC result will be available online in PDF format. UPPSC 2018 result will carry roll numbers of candidates selected for mains examination. Candidates 18 times the number of vacancies will be selected for the mains examination. Out of total 924 vacancies, approximately 16632 candidates will be selected for the mains examination based on UPPSC 2018 result.
Paper II of UPPSC is qualifying in nature. The minimum qualifying marks of Paper II is 33%. The merit list of candidates will be determined on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the preliminary examination. UPPSC 2018 preliminary exam was conducted on October 28. UPPSC result 2018 will be declared in three stages – Preliminary, Mains exam and Final.

Stages of UPPSC Result 2018
The result of UPPSC will be declared in three stages. The details of each stage are explained below.
UPPSC 2018 Prelims result
The result of UPPSC prelims will be declared for candidates securing qualifying marks prescribed by the commission. The preliminary examination of UPPSC comprises two papers – General Studies Paper 1 and 2. Each paper carries 200 marks. There are negative marks of 0.33 for wrong answers. The score of preliminary exam will be calculated out of 400 after deducting penalty for wrong answers. The qualifying marks for Paper II is 33%. In 2017, total 4,55,297 candidates had registered for the exam, out of which 2,46,654 candidates appeared for the exam. Total 14032 candidates have qualified the prelims exam.

UPPSC Result 2018 for Mains
The written exam of mains comprises compulsory and optional subjects. The papers will be both conventional and objective type. The total marks allotted for the mains exam is 1400. Candidates three times the number of vacancies will be selected for interview based on UPPSC result of mains. Scaling system will be applicable in the optional subjects of mains examination to declare the result.
UPPSC Final Result 2018
The final result of UPPSC will be declared based on the marks obtained by candidates in the mains examination and Interview. Marks of candidates to declare the final result will be calculated out of 1550 (1400 written exam and 150 interview).
What is Scaling system in UPPSC?
The scaling system in optional subjects of mains exam has been adopted by UPPSC in view that there is a common base across different subjects. This process brings the performance of candidates in different subjects to a common scale. The formula for scaling system is given below.
Z= Assumed mean + [ (X-M) x Assumed S.D.] SD Z= is the Scaled Score.
X = is the Raw mark.
M = is the mean of Raw Marks of the group/subject.
S.D. is the Standard Deviation of Raw Marks of the group/subject.
(i) Assumed Mean will be taken as Half of the maximum marks of the group/subject.
(ii) Assumed S.D. will be taken as one-fifth of the assumed mean.
(iii) If the scaled score is less than zero after scaling, then candidates will be allotted zero marks in the said group/subject.
(iv) If scaled score after scaling is more than maximum marks, then candiates will be allotted maximum marks in the said group/subject.
UPPSC Merit List
- The minimum efficiency standard to be in the merit list for SC and ST candidates is 30% that is candidates of these categories will not be considered for the merit list if they secure less than 30% in the prelims or mains exam.
- The minimum qualifying marks for other category candidates is 40% in Prelims/Mains exam.
- Candidates securing less than the minimum qualifying will be disqualified.
- Candidates are required to obtain minimum marks in compulsory paper of General Hindi.
UPPSC Cutoff 2018
The cutoff is the minimum qualifying marks which candidates have to score to qualify the exam and become eligible for next round of selection process. The exam conducting authority will release category-wise cutoff for various posts. On the basis of UPPSC cutoff of prelims, candidates will be selected for mains exam. Similarly, candidates securing the cutoff marks in the mains will be shortlisted for Interview. The final cutoff will be decided based on mains exam and interview.
