Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) holds the TN SET exam 2024 from June 3 to 25, 2024. The TN SET application form 2024 was closed on May 15, 2024. The exam authority released the TN SET 2024 application form on April 1, 2024 on their official website.The TN SET exam notification was released on March 20, 2024.
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University (MSU) conducts Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TN SET) for the recruitment of Assistant Professors across the colleges and universities of the state. The exam is held in offline or pen and paper-based mode for 26 papers. Candidates have to appear in two papers - Paper I which is common for all candidates and Paper II which is based on the subject chosen by the candidates. Candidates have to appear and qualify both the exam. Paper I has 50 questions for 100 marks, while paper II has 100 questions for 200 marks. Paper I has to be completed in 1 hour and Paper II has to be completed in 2 hours.

TN SET Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (session 2024)
General/OBC (creamy layer) candidates who have secured minimum 55% marks (without gracing or rounding off) in Masters or equivalent and SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD (PWD-VI/HI/PH) candidates with at least 50% marks (without gracing or rounding off) in Masters or equivalent exam recognised by UGC are eligible.
Candidates who appeared in the final examination of masters degree and whose result is awaited (or) candidates whose exams have been delayed can also apply. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and for those who clear the TN SET examination will have to qualify within two years from the date of TN SET exam. If they fail to do so, will be treated as disqualified.
There is no upper age limit to apply for TN SET.
TN SET application form is released in online mode and candidates have to submit it within the deadline with all correct information. Candidates can pay the exam fee via online through net banking, credit card/debit card.
Before filling the application form, keep the following ready:
Photograph in the prescribed format
Signature in the prescribed format
Category Certificate, Income Certificate, Community Certificate and PwD Certificate issued by Competent authorities in the prescribed format and size

Registration
With the required information like email ID and mobile number, candidates have to first of all register. After the registration, candidates will be sent their user ID and password via message and email.
Log in and filling the Application Form
Using their generated log in ID and password candidates have to log into the application form of TN SET and fill the application form. Personal details, academic particulars, etc have to be entered by the candidates. Ensure that all information entered is correct, as after final submission, no data can be corrected.
Upload Photograph & Signature
Candidates have to upload the digital images of the photograph and signature, as per the size and dimension prescribed by the authority. Along with the signature and photograph, candidates also have to upload their Income Certificate, Category Certificate, Community Certificate and PwD Certificate issued by Competent authorities in the prescribed size and format.
Application Fee Payment
After filling the application form, candidates have to pay the TN SET application fee using Net banking/Credit/Debit Card. General/OBC category candidates have to pay Rs. 1500, while OBC-NCL candidates have to pay Rs. 1250 as application fee. The application fee for SC/ST/(PWD-VI/HI/PH) is Rs. 500.
Print Application Form
At the last stage of the application, candidates can take a print out of the filled in application form for their own reference. It need not to be sent to the exam authority.

TN SET Exam Pattern – Paper I
TN SET exam will have 2 papers – paper I, II, in offline mode. Paper I is generic in nature and is held to test the candidates on reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Paper I carries 50 objective type questions for 100 marks which need to be attempted in 1 hour. For each right answer, candidates will get 2 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
TN SET Exam Pattern – Paper II
Paper II of TN SET will be held in offline mode for 100 questions. Each correct answer will carry 2 marks and there is no negative marking. This means that candidates have to attempt 100 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours. Paper II will be as per the subject chosen by the candidates. The questions will be objective type and all questions are mandatory.

• Prepare a study plan as per the syllabus and time in hand.

Keep daily study targets and meet them without fail
• Take as many mock tests as possible and practise more and more previous years question papers and sample papers.
• Make short notes during the preparation and make use of them during revision.
• Spare some time for revision which is a must. Use the short notes you have prepared.
• Avoid taking any new topic during the last lap of the preparation.
TN SET admit card is released online wherein candidates can download it by entering their application number. The admit card can be accessed by only those candidates who submit their application form within the time frame. Candidates are not sent the admit card via post or any other mode. After downloading, candidates must take print out of the admit card of TN SET. All candidates can produce admit card at the exam centres on the day of exam. It must be remembered by the candidate that they will not be allowed to appear for the test without the admit card. Along with the admit card, candidates must also bring one of the prescribed photo ID proofs with them to the test centre. The photo ID proof list includes Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card and Driving License.

MSU will release the TN SET answer key separately for all 26 papers as per their codes. Candidates have to download the answer key of their respective code of the paper and compare their answers with it. Candidates can come to know their score y comparing their answers with that in the answer key of TN SET. If the candidates find any mistakes in the answer keys or questions of paper I and II, then they can raise objections or challenge the answer key within the time frame and in the required procedure. Considering the objections, the final answer key will be released.
Candidates can challenge the answer key within 15 days after the publication of the answer keys by sending the documentary evidence. They can challenge the answer key by paying Rs.1,000 per question via SBI Demand Draft drawn in favour of,

TN SET result will be declared in online mode. Candidates have to enter their registration number or application number and mobile number. As per Mother Teresa Women’s University, top 6% of the appeared candidates of the exam would be considered qualified in TN SET only if they are able to secure at least 40% aggregate marks (General Category) and at least 35% marks (reserved category) in paper I and II taken together.

MSU releases the cut off of TN SET. TN SET cut off is released subject and category-wise. Candidates can check the cut off for the paper they have appeared in and as per the category they belong to. To be considered for the post of Assistant Professor at the colleges and universities of the state, it’s mandatory that candidates secure the minimum cut off for the respective subject, as per their category. TN SET cutoff will be different for all candidates belonging to different categories and as per the paper they have appeared in.
