NTA prescribed the UGC NET 2024 eligibility criteria. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for UGC NET 2024 in order to be eligible for the exam and to prevent any cancellation of their candidacy due to the lack of documentary evidence at a later stage. The criteria for eligibility include provisions based on age and qualifications for education.
Applicants with a Master's degree in Humanities and Social Sciences (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc. with a minimum of 55% marks from UGC-recognized universities/institutions or equivalents are eligible to apply for UGC NET 2024. Candidates belonging to the group OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender must have at least 50 percent of Master's degree marks to apply for UGC NET 2024.
For candidates applying for JRF, the upper age limit is 30 years of age
There is no age limit for candidates who are applying for Assistant Professor.

The UGC NET application form correction window was active between May 21 -23, 2024. National Testing Agency closed the UGC NET 2024 application form on May 19, 2024 (Extended date). NTA released UGC NET application form online on April 20, 2024 on the official website only. UGC NET 2024 registration will be accepted only for those candidates who paid the application fee.
Candidates can pay the fees for the UGC NET 2024 application form on or before May 20, 2024. Candidates must upload all the required documents in the UGC NET application form 2024 as per the specifications and pay the fees depending upon the category to which they belong.
As per the exam pattern of UGC NET 2024, There will be two papers for the exam. Both papers consist of multiple-choice questions. No break between papers is going to take place. There is no negative marking and for any wrong response, no marks will be deducted in UGC NET exam. 2 marks will be given for each correct answer. The overall duration of the UGC NET exam will be 3 hours.

The UGC NET syllabus has been released by the NTA. For all candidates, Paper 1 of UGC NET is similar and common, the syllabus for Paper I will be focused on the candidates' teaching and reasoning ability, general knowledge, understanding and divergent thought. UGC NET 2024 syllabus for Paper 2 is subject-based and, from a list of 83 subjects, candidates may choose one subject. Economics, commerce, psychology, management, Malayalam, German, music, etc., as per their preference. The NET syllabus 2024 is available for all the subsections. While preparing for UGC NET, applicants need to know the best and recommended books. The UGC NET exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. For all candidates, Paper 1 is standard and candidates should refer to the same list of recommended books for UGC NET Paper 1.
Since Paper 2 of exam is subject-based, UGC NET books for various subjects such as trade, economics, management etc. will be different. Candidates must purchase books that accurately and specifically cover the content and topics. NTA UGC NET/SET/JRF - Paper 1: Teaching and Study Aptitude by writers such as KVS Madaan, Harpreet Kaur, Sajit Kumar, etc. Candidates should refer to books.
To get an idea of the exam, candidates have to practice the UGC NET question papers. National Testing Agency released the list exam centres on its official website. The UGC NET 2024 exam was conducted in 1205 exam centres in 317 cities across the country. UGC NET 2024 exam centres are the cities where the exam will be conducted. There are two forms of UGC NET 2024 cut off including subject-wise cut off marks and qualifying marks will be referred to by NTA in the notification. At least 40 per cent marks must be secured by general category candidates, while reserved category candidates (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PWD, and transgenders) must score a minimum of 35 per cent marks in both papers. These minimum qualification marks apply to applicants who are eligible for an Assistant Professor as well as a JRF.

The NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts UGC-NET Exam twice a year- June and December cycle and always open a correction window for those candidates who have filled any of their details incorrectly. This correction window will give you a chance to correct your mistakes in the application form. But, it is very important to know that this correction window may be or may not be opened for a longer period of time. like for a week or so.

Yes, candidate who has completed their Master's from IGNOU can apply for UGC-NET. The eligibility criteria of appearing in UGC-NET Exam is to score an equivalent or more than 55% in their Master's CGPA.
UGC-NET Exam happens twice a year. The June cycle has been re-scheduled. The second cycle will take place in the month of December.
